“Home Cooking”
Reviewed May 18, 2012

The staff was so friendly and the food was delicious. The desserts are a must for anyone going the first time. It is a tough decision to make on dessert as there are a lot of choose from and all are fresh. My husband and I went twice when we were in Long Beach for 6 days. Each time we had a different pie. I had appricot and coconut and my husband had carrot cake and rubbarb. Just like our Mom's use to make. Do not miss stopping at this restaraunt. The daily specials are great.

“I'm a regular for a reason - it's great”
Reviewed March 13, 2012

You may need to wait for a seat, but it will be worth it. The "homey" food - pot roast, chicken pie, mac and cheese, etc. But it's the pies that really close the deal. Huge variety, there are usually too many favorites to choose from. It's a charming, neighborhood place that provide a great home cooked meal at a resonalble price.

“Amazing!”
Reviewed February 21, 2012

Although there will be a wait, it's well worth the hanging about. Breakfasts are amazing, fresh homemade muffins and pastries are well worth it!
The pies, cakes and baked goods are something to behold, do yourself a favor and try the Chicken pot pie.. you won't be disappointed!@

“Blueberry Lemon Pancakes...enough said”
Reviewed February 20, 2012

I've gotten a lot of Red Velvet Cupcakes from this place, but never really stayed for the food till this past Sunday. Got the Sausage & Cheese concoction should have gotten the Denver omelet as told by my waiter but wanted to try something different. It was o.k. nothing to write home about, but my friend ordered the Chicken Fried Steak and seem to love it...also ordered the Blueberry Lemon Pancakes, they were o.k. with a side of bacon...if you can order it crisp, because it seems they have a pan of bacon just sitting around instead of making it fresh for the customer to eat. And they need to spend some money on getting bigger booths and seats, I'm not huge or fat but athletic and was packed into a booth like sardines it was not comfortable at all.

“You in the mood for homemade comfort food ?”
Reviewed February 4, 2012

This is fastly becoming one of my favorites. Expect a fairly long wait during peak weekend hours, 50 plus minutes, but worth the wait. The chicken pot pie is sur-real. Crust is lite and crunchy, full of fresh carrots, peas and oh yeah, lots of chunk white chicken. Doesn't look that filling, trust me on this one, it is. They sell out usually before 5pm, so be warned. The pot roast, chicken fried steak(actually chicken) are both very good. Soups are all killer, rich in flavor made daily, just like mom's.

Now for my favorite part, dessert. The red velvet cup cakes are to die for. They are un-real. We always get them to go, as no room right after dinner.German chocolate cake...all I can say is wow ! You will not find tastier homemade desserts, any where. Bon-appetite.
