Great views of the city and Catalina from this restaurant. Food is good and wine list is extensive. Interesting rooftop bar.

“Very cool restaurant with surprisingly good food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 13, 2012

Typically these places with great views don't have the best food. I was very pleasantly surprised with the overall quality of the food. The wine list is really sensational and pretty well priced. Probably the most elaborate wine list in the area. The views are really awesome, you can see downtown Los Angeles from the hotel and great views of the sunset and pacific ocean. The service leaves a bit to be desired. It's very average and doesn't match the dining room and food. That is really my only "knock" on the restaurant, the shoddy service.

“Interesting Place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 29, 2012

What a cool place. A very historical building with lots of artifacts dating back to early days of Long Beach. Elevator takes you up to top floor for a 360 view of the L.A. area.
Service was very good and so was the food. Live music and a dance floor made the evening perfect.

Made a birthday reservation and was essentially turned away. Strange location on the top floor of a senior apartment building.

“Heavenly Dining at Sky Room”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 1, 2012

For the life of me I don't understand why the Sky Room isn't more popular than it is. Maybe the young hipsters have been intimidated by the 4-7 dinner crowd but don't let this fool you. Located at the top of a Long Beach Historic Landmark it offers sweeping 360 degree views of the city and Long Beach Harbor. The Art Deco decor is both elegant and comfortable. It happened to be bossa nova night and we enjoyed great music played by a four-piece band. We went for dinner on a Friday night and were pleasantly surprised by the versatile and creative menu. I ordered the paella made with rabbit and chorizo. It was delicious. The portion was generous so I had some to re-heat the next day. It was still delicious. My husband ordered the pork belly which was also thoroughly enjoyable. It was slightly sweet with an intriguing taste of spice to balance it out. Very nice. Both meals paired very well with the house syrah (Covecliquot?). Do yourself a favor and save room for the strawberry cayenne creme brulee. It was amazing! The creme was perfectly creamy and the strawberry not too overpowering. The cayenne in the brulee was genius and was the perfect ending to the meal. I highly recommend the Sky Room next time you're planning a special evening.
