“Great Courtyard”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 4, 2014

I tend to shy away from airport hotels but this one looked new and I thought I'd give it a shot. It was a great courtyard experience. The place is new and the staff seems to care which is always well appreciated. Since it's so close to the airport I thought I'd have trouble with a few things like noise and a decent place for coffee. Luckily, since it's new the rooms, bed, tv, decor, are all nice and plane noise was compensated for. Also, they put a sandwich shop and a Starbucks across the parking lot, so no worries there.

Green Features: It's a new hotel in California so needless to say they care about recycling and using energy efficiently. Not on my top 10 priority list after taking a jet across the country and destroying the environment but it is appreciated.

This was our first stay in Long Beach. The property itself is new and every staff member was top notch. If you travel in and out of Long Beach airport, this location probably works well for you, as it's just moments away (but you don't hear airport noise). The property is the most recent design for the Courtyard hotels; pool and patio in the front of the hotel. Nice outdoor patio area for evening gathering, etc. The bistro in the lobby provides great morning breakfast options, Starbucks coffee options and in the evening, they serve adult beverages. This property had two washers/dryers adjacent the the gym on the first floor. The hotel has 4 floors of rooms. Parking in the front of the hotel is tight. The spots are among the smallest I've seen recently. My rental car was the proud recipient of two notable nasty door dings/scratches; so take this tip, go around to the back side of the property to find lots of parking, and a door that lets you in at the center of the lounge space in the lobby.
Across from the front parking lot there is a small strip of fast food type options; Jersey Mikes, Starbucks, Habit Grill, Flame Broiler and some other stores.
The rooms are big, have refrigerators and huge showers. AC in the heat worked well to keep the room cool. Housecleaning did a very nice job -- although in the huge shower there is a ledge on one side, and its obvious by the discolored grout and sealants already, that they don't routinely get under there to clean like they do the more common wall/floor area of the shower.
Last note - if you're staying here with kids, we told the girls that they were not to head out on their own. I would say its a bit rougher surrounding area.

Green Features: Hotel does have signs in the bathrooms advising of their mission to be environmentally friendly, inviting you to rehang your towels if you don't need them washed.

It is nice to know that Marriott has the Courtyard right down the street from the Long Beach Airport. I usually stay in Foothill Ranch when I come to Orange County. I now split my stay between the Courtyard Foothill and Long Beach. It is so convenient since I leave from the Long Beach airport. I don't have to worry about hassling with early morning rush hour to make my flight. The nice thing about the Long Beach Courtyard is that it is a new hotel and their rooms have full showers, which I love. I can't stand the bath/shower. Claudia was very nice and friendly when checking in.

This Marriott is new, with large attractive rooms. We had a king suite which was HUGE. We were over the pool area, but heard none of the noise from the pool or the nearby airport--great insulation and soundproofing. Small refrigerator, separate sink and microwave were helpful. Additionally, there is a Bistro in the lobby area, open early for breakfast and late for snacks/meals/drinks as well. We were off early each morning and the servers cheerfully prepared a breakfast to go for us each morning. (Across from the hotel is also a Starbucks, open early, Jersey Mikes and The Habit burger lounge), Coffee maker in the room and great coffee at the Bistro as well. Complimentary USA Today and Wall Street Journal in the lobby/ lounge , which is expansive with separate booths, each with their own TV. There is also an outside seating area, which in June was well used and looked very comfortable and inviting. Gym is great--cardio machines , free weights and several weight machines--all new and working. Smaller pool, which got a lot of use, but always looked great and well maintained. All of the employees seemed to go the extra mile to make your stay comfortable and stress free. Shuttle to the aiport nearby available as well. You do have to pay to park there, but I find that this is more common and the fee (~ $8.00) was significantly less than the $15.00 I paid recently in Anaheim.

Nearly new, beautiful, quite, near airport, small fast food restaurants across the street are wonderful. A "Courtyard" for enjoying an outdoor setting. I stay at Courtyards all over the country and this one is one of the best.
I am a light sleeper and do not like airport noise. I can see the airport from here but the airplane noise is not noticeable in the hotel.
Staff is friendly. I have been here 3 days and know Jacqueline, Samantha, Thomas and others by first name.

Arrived at the hotel for one night while moving my daughter up to Los Angeles. I was worried about hearing the airplanes at night which I never heard once. upon arriving we were greeted by a very friendly lady who checked us in. I have to say I love their luggage carts. It was the smaller airport type so much easier to use than those huge outdated ones. Nice large lobby with Bistro. Nice outdoor seating area. In the same parking lot is The Habit, Starbucks, A sub shop and a grill of some sort. Plenty of parking. Rooms were nice and clean and setup the same as other courtyards. I will for sure stay here again. The one con I have is paying for parking when there was a lot of parking spaces, also there were no benefits to being a Gold Elite member. No lounge, no complimentary meals and no upgrades.
