I used to love going to open sesame when it was still a small restaurant, not yet expanded and definitely not with a location a few stores down. Why is this important? Because as it has gotten bigger the quality of the food has gone down. This last time I went the food was sooo oily it was dripping down my hand. It was so much oil I started to feel sick. This used to be one of my favorite places, but no longer is...... tear.....

Open Sesame is THE hotspot on 2nd. Locals flock to the original location and the new annex on the corner. The food is tasty and reasonably priced. It gets crowded, so prepare for a worthwhile wait. Get a patio seat and watch the show!

I was visiting Family and Friends at Long Beach, CA and wanted to try out the Mediterranean spot. Open Sesame has the Lebanese-flavored med food and boy, was it delicious!!

With 4 aduts and one kid in the group, We started out with a Mezza Sampler and the Fried Potatoes. The fried potatoes were heavenly and we couldn't stop gorging but we had to move on to the entrees. The Chicken Tawook was delicious yet subtle in their spices, not overpowering your palate. The vegetarian combo was just as good. The Grape leaf could have used a little more TLC. We ordered a wonderful Chilean red wine that complemented the dining fare.

Really good food and excellent service. Love the fried cauliflower...so tasty.
Beef, chicken and lamb are spiced to perfection...every dish is a taste explosion in your mouth.
Salads are unique and flavorful. Nothing taste greasy or over salted.

Only reason Open Sesame does not get a 'five' star rating from us is because the Pita bread served is NOT
fresh. This restaurant uses enough Pita to warrant serving a better quality product! Pita bread is really part of the culture of Mediterranean meals. Why skimp on this major but simple point? Attention to details makes the difference between a good, great or excellent meal. Even Trader Joes has white and wheat Pita with no preservatives, so it really shouldn't be a big deal to fix. Since Open Seasame aims to serve healthy fresh food...this is an easy fix. Time will tell if they care enough to do it though.

Schwarma anyone? I like the beef but the chicken is also very tasty. I love the lemony flavor, specially the tabouli. They have spicey hummus too that is great for an afternoon treat. Enjoy!
