“Great Beer; really good food”

I liked everything there. Helps to be a carnivore. Beers tend towards the Imperial side of things, but there were tasty beers that didn't hit you on the head with a sledgehammer. Never really found a good session beer- had to go 2800 miles northeast to Gritty's in Portland (stay away from the Freeport site) for a cask bitter or two, but I digress. Should have ordered a side other than the bleu cheese grits the second time, but you should order them at least once.

“Great selection of beers, good food & good service!”
Reviewed November 5, 2012 via mobile

Many beers to choose from here. Not only of their own but from other brewers. You can even try a half pint if you aren't sure & don't want a whole one. I love the fried green tomato salad! I've been here a few times & each time the service has been excellent, everyone is very friendly & helpful. They have outdoor seating & the restaurant is very open (good for people watching on the promenade).

“Great Beer, Good BBQ”
Reviewed August 11, 2012

This place knows beer. They have 10 of their own brews on tap and rotate them through regularly. My favorite is Thrill Seeker IPA. Being my first visit, they let me have small tastes of 6 beers before I decided. Each had a unique flavor, something missing from many small breweries.

I had a pulled pork sandwich, with sweat potato fried, which was very good. The sandwich is served North Carolina style, with cole slaw on the meat. The difference is that it comes in a pretzel roll. Unusual and tasty.

My wife had a burger and fries. Also delicious.

They offer 5 different homemade sauces. We tried them all. Some were better than others.

My only compliant is the price of the sandwiches. The pulled pork was $11 and the hamburger $12. They should have been a few dollars less.

We will definitely go back. We ate at the one in Long Beach. They also have a restaurant in Seal Beach.

“You don’t except much from CA BBQ, and you get it”
Reviewed July 6, 2012

Not that it was bad, but far from great BBQ. Lets review one item at a time… baked beans – so-so, pulled pork – no flavor, brisket – good flavor, but dry, back-back ribs – very good, corn bread – great, hush puppies – very good, sweet potato fries – very good. Sauces on the table – there were 4 – all were not very good, some down right awful. Value - not bad at high teens. Service, very good. Overall, the service, location, and beer selection helps them make it to average rating - otherwise they would on poor.
