The noise was unbearable, there were annoying bugs and gnats flying around. Our room was on the first floor, a garden patio, facing the water, in building 1, room 1105. Unfortunately the room was located right next to the event venue were each night the hotel hosted a wedding. There was no way to block out the booming base. The hotel staff seemed unable to do anything for us, and couldn't even show any empathy for our situation. There needs to be some warning about events being held during your stay rather than just let a guest book a room and get screwed their entire stay.

Thank you for the feedback. Please email me at kristi.allen@hilton.com so I can find out when and what happened. We require all music to be off by 10pm so am sur[rised to hear that you heard it. It might have been the Long Beach Jazz fest that was here a few weeks back across the water. Many guests thought the music was ours but it was coming from the music festival right across the water. Glady's knight played so at least it was a free concert but one we couldnt control. Please let me know.

Whereas Long Beach itself is rather disappointing, due to the unsightly port and dirty beaches, the Hotel Maya is a gem. A beautiful Doubletree Hotel that is a standout amongst the unfortunate location.

Glad you liked the hotel. Long Beach as a city has two major attractions, the aquarium and the Queen Mary but we also have plenty of great shopping and restaurants if you know where to go. Belmont shore, retro row, the promenade, East village, etc. We also have a very active waterfront with kayaking, paddleboarding, gondolas, boating, etc. It is not well known for it's beaches due to Orange county beaches being 5 minutes away with miles of beautiful surfing and swimming beaches however we still have a lot to offer. We are 25 minutes from Disney, 15 from Huntington Beach, 30 from downtown LA...Come back and explore again becaue you may have missed something!

Beautiful hotel!! I whent there with a friend but since we are less then 25, we cant rent a car so i'ts difficult to travel cause there is not much to see around. Some nice attractions but its a very quiet city, not much to visit. I would recommande this hotel for couples or for business trip. the hotel staff is very helpfull and dedicated. Very nice decor.

Happy to hear you liked it...we are located across the water from downtown but have a water taxi that runs every 30 minutes for $1 and the free downtown passport bus that picks up at our hotel and runs every 15 minutes throughout the downtown area. Hopefully you utilized these during your stay.

too bad this hotel thinks the location is more important than the upkeep, rooms are very small bathrooms are wierd shapes, no baths, no counter space, expensive parking, no other choice to self park, very very noisy, the warm cookie at check-in was great

Thanks for the feedback however I am confused as you said we have no baths yet all of our rooms have bathtubs? The rooms are odd in shape as we are not a traditional big box hotel with square rooms. Our hotel is resort style in 5 separate 5 story buildings that were designed with odd angles so that the majority of the hotel has water views. The rooms were also designed so that you can not see into the balcony of the room next door which is a great feature. because of the design many of the 4th and 5th floor rooms have high cathedral style ceilings which make the rooms look twice as big. I apologize that it was not what you were looking for but it sounds like you may just not have gotten the right room...

Overall this was a great place to stay. If I ever get the chance to come back to this area I would definately stay at this hotel again. The best parts of our stay were relaxing on the room's balcony while enjoying the veiw and relaxing by the pool.

We were merely passing through and needed a place to stay for the night. I should have done more research.

The room smelled terrible. We opened the door to the balcony to air out the room, but had to shut it after an hour because our neighbors were having a party in their room. Even with the doors closed, we continued to hear them well. As others have pointed out, the design of the hotel simply amplifies noise.

The good news/bad news aspect was that the air conditioner, even on the "low" setting, was so noisy it drowned out a lot of sound coming from next door. The bad smell never abated. If I had booked more than one night there, I would have checked out early.

Why you would make the unfortunate choice of a headboard out of stones is not for me to say, but it was not a great one. My guess is it is an attempt to look hip, along with plastic plants in rustic boxes along the walls.

For $250.00 a night, you can do better.

We were not staying there to take advantage of the pool or gym, so I cannot review that aspect of the hotel.

The one thing we did like was the staff we dealt with. They were all polite and efficient.

Thank you for writing about your experience. i will certainly review it with my staff. If you could email me at kristi.allen@hilton.com so I can follow up on the smell and AC in your room, I would appreciate it. I am glad you fond the staff polite. It's funny you mentioned the headboard as more people request to purchase these items and the lobby furniture than any other item at the hotel. Guests love them....Just goes to prove that everyone has different tastes....Hope to see you back here.

We live out of state and my wife was delegated to organize her 20th high school reunion. Since we were were living several states away we we hesitant on selecting the location for the actual reunion based on internet photos. Upon arrival at the location we very impressed with the patio and room provided for the reunion. The evening function was exceptional with an impressive view of Long Beach. The actual hotel room was less than impressive for the price, and only had the standard provisions. The hotel staff was exceptionally helpful and to be commended on their attention to detail. Overall a great experience.

Thanks for the great comments. We do many reunions annually as the hotel is a beautiful location and designed for casual mingling and celebrating. The waterfront meeting space is perfect for all events and I am glad you also enjoyed the overall experience and service.
