“Very Impressed!!!”
Reviewed September 27, 2011

Stayed at the lovely Hotel Maya for our anniversary. Emailed General Manager Kristi Allen and we were very well taken care of ( Thanks, Kristi, we really appreicated it). Getting an ocean view room is a must at this property, and they sell out FAST! We had a nice room on the 3rd floor of building 3, facing Queen Mary, very nice night view.

We reserved a table for dinner at Fuego for dinner and was able to get a very nice 2 seater table next to the rail by the firepit, very nice night view of Downtown Long Beach and Queen Mary. Food at Fuego was pretty good, very fresh and well cooked. One of the best steak I've ever had. We didn't wait long for our food. Also, we were lucky that we stayed here on a Saturday night and made it to the fabulous Sunday Brunch with live music. We were able to use our HHonors breakfast voucher to get good discount to upgrade our breakfast to brunch. Alfonso at Fuego has been very helpful with reserving the table we want and recommended good dishes for the brunch. Thanks Alfonso.

If I remember correctly, on tripadvisor.com, Hotel Maya was #6 hotel in long beach when I stayed during August. I am not surprised to see it now #2 hotel in long beach ( and very likely #1 very soon) as it is truely very well managed. Overall, we had a very nice stay and can't wait until our next visit.

Room Tip: Building 3 & 4 are great for Queen Mary view, Building 1 & 2 are great for Downtown Long Bea...

Thank you for those very kind words...we definitely try to please and impress all of our guests and I am so happy that we did in this case. Fuego absolutely has the best views in Long Beach and we just rolled out a yummy new menu today so you have to come back and try it again soon. Once again, Happy Anniversary!

We were "upgraded" (in the sense that we paid extra) for a water view, however were dismayed when we entered the room to find that it does not have a balcony unlike almost every room in this property!! We are currently here so have changed our stay from 5 days to 3 days, as when you are with your small children, the balcony is like the 2nd room where you can have a conversation after they have gone to sleep.

On the plus side this place is lovely. It has been well renovated, the pool is great, the breakfast is magnificent. I would definitely recommend staying here ... if you don't get "upgraded" to a room with no balcony .... we would have preferred a garden view room with a balcony.

Yes, there are 5 oceanview rooms in every building that do not have balconies. I apologize that you did not get a room that you expected. Having small kids myself, I certainly understand the balcony importance. Please contact the front desk today if you are still in house and we will get you into a balcony room. We were sold out of them on Saturday but have since opened up. We will make sure you enjoy the rest of your stay here!

Can't wait till I can go back just had a fab stay. I stayed 3 nights with a thomas cook tour and was blowen away with how lovely this hotel was. My room was lovey with great views over the bay and over to long beach. The restaurant had lovely views and the food was just as good. If you didn't want to eat in the hotel the reef was close by and a free bus service tok you round the bay where there was many chocies of places there for you. My room was big and every room has a balcony where you can get great views also of the Queen Mary which is only a short walk from the hotel.

The hotel Maya is a wonderful spot for viewing the city of Long Beach in the evening. The rooms are decorated in a Mayan theme (surprise) that is almost cool, but ends up giving the place a dated look. You'll have to spend more if you want a decent view from your room, otherwise the parking lot is what you get. The restaurant is overpriced, as is the bar but that's because they are the only game in town on "that" side of the water. The Queen Mary is within walking distance and the city offers a free bus service from the hotel to downtown hot spots. When i next visit LB, i'll stay downtown. Eat at Georges Greek cafe, At Last Cafe, and Gloria's Cafe in LA. A drive on the Pacific Coast Highway at sunset is a must. Santa Monica pier is no big whoop, but the lights at night will entice you, try not to pay to park.

Room Tip: nothing stands out as spectacular except the views from the restaurant or upgraded rooms at this Dou...

Yes, Long Beach in general has great weather all year long. We are glad you were able to enjoy it. The Maya is a Mayan themed resort on the water and is the only hotel on the water in Long Beach other than the Queen Mary so a water view room is always preferred. They sell out quickly even though approximately 70% of our rooms face the water so I always advise people to book them instead of waiting for an upgrade. Next time make sure you explore the Queen Mary as well since they are right next door and have about 10 different restaurants and bars if Fuego is not for you. Hope to see you back in Long Beach soon!

Most of the rooms offer great views over the harbour and the Queen Mary and have a balcony with a couple of chairs where you can ejoy the waterfront. Rooms are spacious and clean with modern and stylish furniture. The swimming pool offers a pleasurable relaxing and lounging area and is not too busy with customers. One of the hotel's downsides is the location as you are on the other side of the harbour from where the entertainment area of Long Beach is, There is a free shuttle bus from the car park that takes you in town in 19 minutes.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms with harbour views.

I love the fact you sat at on your balcony in our super comfy chairs. They are specifically designed for relaxing with an extra deep seat. A margarita in one hand, sitting on the balcony watching the water from your room cant be beat though our fun pool and pool bar with the floating cabanas is a close second. I am glad you had a chance to do both! Come back soon.

This is a nice hotel. The rooms are lovely, big, coffee machine, great bathroom, free internet, free cookie (part of doubletree). The pool is great too, overlooking the bay and the city. Long Beach downtown is approximately 10 minutes drive away, so you definately need a car if you stay here. The parking is free at the hotel though. The hotel is very close to the Queen Mary.

We didnt have breakfast included in the rate but we had breakfast at a local restaurant called Egg etc. Highly recommend this, just fantastic!! We went every day!

We didnt eat in the restaurant, but had a drink in the bar the first night, Its nice but very expensive.

All in all a nice place to stay.

Great to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us. It sounds like you may have missed the red passport bus during your stay with us. Long beach has a complimentary bus sytem that picks up in our parking lot every 15 minutes and takes you anywhere in Downtown Long Beach for free. You will have to try it on your next saty with us. Come back soon!

We stayed here for 3 nights at the start of our tour. Room was clean and tidy and a good size, we had a view of the waterfront from our downstairs room, with a small patio. Found staff fine we only eat Breakfast, which we found quite expensive at $23 each, as there were no other place close by to have breakfast, but it was very nice with lots of choice. We had our evening meal at a restaurant a little up the road called the Reef with a good choice of meals, and not badly priced. Hotel just a bit out of the way.

Thank you for your kind comments and we are thrilled you enjoyed your stay. As we are just a short walk from the Queen Mary, they have 10 food and beverage outlets including a coffee shop and bakery which is always a good place to grab breakfast as well if dining in the hotel's rstaurant Fuego every day leaves you wanting to try something different. You will have to try it on your next visit. Come back soon!
