“Tropical Resort Feel...Loved the Indoor/Outdoor Dining Patio”
Reviewed July 29, 2011

Clean room, elegant bathroom, comfy beds, nice balcony. Feels like a resort. Indoor/outdoor dining patio reminded me of the hotels we stayed at in Hawaii. Beautiful view of the harbor, Queen Mary. Very tropical feel. Great pool, hot tub, semi-private sunbathing "rooms" divided by airy curtains. Loud music, club-like atmosphere in outdoor dancefloor/party area. Very lively, vibrant place. Great breakfast buffet but it costs $20.00 per person. For the price of the room it should've been included. Everyone who reviews the hotels in Long Beach screams about the cost of parking, but EVERY hotel in the area charges for it, so...oh well. Loved the complimentary chocolate chip cookies. First class hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room. We were on the 4th floor of building 3 in a quiet corner, we slept well.

The Maya Hotel was a challenge to locate, but is situated on the backside of the pike across from Long Beach. The site was stunning across from the front of the Queen Mary Ship. The rooms were clean and crisp and felt very five starish. The check in service was easy and bus tranportation to town was free. This was a fabulous hotel to stay in.

We would love to have you again too! I agree with the hard to find...we are working with CALtrans for better signage and GPS's tell you that you are here when you are not so we highly encourage people to print our directions from the Hotel Maya Website. First, let say that I never write reviews, but after staying in Hotel Maya I had to! After a long flight with an emergency landing it was great to pull up to this beautiful Hotel with a very friendly staff! Not only were they friendly but they were also helpful and made us feel right at home. The property has a European feel to it with a great view of the harbor. One of the things that I loved about this hotel was the awesome pool area and cabanas! It is also within walking distance of the Queen Mary and a short ride to the Aquarium, restaurants and shopping. We were there on business but we will definitely be back with our whole family!

We were asked by our friends to stay at the Maya for the Catalina Ski Races...and we can not express the fabulous time we had during that weekend. The hotel is conveniently located walking distance to the Queen Mary, on the route for free bus service to and from Long Beach destinations such as the Aquarium, downtown, Seashore Village, numerous restaurants and shopping destinations. Outdoor dining, huge bar, hooka bar with plenty of people watching opportunities.

We stayed at the Hotel Maya for 2 nights before our Carnival Cruise. It is a very beautiful hotel I must say, but it has things that needs fixed. We arrived early 10 am from Japan to stay at this hotel. Our first mistake, room would not be available for 2- 3 hours maids were still cleaning rooms. I understood and asked if somewhere to put bags? No place but to sit in lobby with luggage until room ready. After waiting 3 hours in lobby room was ready. We are Gold Hilton Honors members, but the room we received was by the elevator and next to maid closet (not good location) I figured 2 nights, no biggy. Well with thin walls it was a biggy. Food good at hotel but very expensive.. Small problem with them understanding the breakfast included with room in dining room. Pool is very nice and good size. Has a shuttle in front of hotel that picks up to take you all over so car not needed. At ck. out be sure to ck. your bill they add parking to bill automatically. Had to have the charge removed when got credit card bill. Overall good hotel, but keep your eyes open to what you are getting charged for. For cruisers great location.

Thank you for your comments. We are glad you liked it but eager to make you love it. I am curious what package you booked on. If possible, please let me know so i may research why there was confusion over what was included like breakfast and parking. I apologize that you had to wait for a room. We sell out quite a bit and thus have to turn rooms. Make sure you request an early check in next time so we know to get your room ready first. Hope to see you on your next pre-cruise visit!

What a delight! This place really made me feel great. The location is out of the way on the scenic side of an industrial port, but its on the water, facing a beautiful view with a marina at its feet. The architecture/ design/ decor of the place is really quirky but in a great way. Somehow, the whole effect was to lift my spirits and make me feel great. The Maya Hotel gave me a really positive California feeling that I wasn't expecting.

Also, the staff at the restaurant, Fuego, were fantastic and the food was amazing. They served me a "Long Beach Iced Tea" that was unforgettable.

I will definitely be back! This time I'll stay longer.

Room Tip: Ask for a harbour view
