“Pretty good unless you are a foodie”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 25, 2013

All the wines I tried were "easy drinking" or approachable wines. They should have a couple of options for those who want more complex flavors. The stout my husband ordered they put in a chilled glass. The beer didn't start tasting good until we were ready to leave. So this wine bar caters to those who want to drink. The same can be said about the food. I was tempted to give it a 2, but I guess if you don't know that you can get better chacuterie at fresh and easy or trader joes, the avg prrson would give it a 4.

“Great place to relax and enjoy a good selection of wines & food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 3, 2013

We had been wanting to visit this place for about a year now because of the good reviews we've seen. We were running around L.B. last Saturday, and decided to have a small, late lunch here.

We were greeted and seated promptly, and served a chilled bottle of tap water.

We ordered a nice bottle of Pinot and decided to split the Blue Cheese salad, the premium cheese plate, and the gorgonzola & honey crostini.

The wine came promptly, and the salad arrived shortly after. The salad was a simple mix of romaine lettuce, small crispy pieces of prosciutto and one of the finest blue cheese dressings we've ever had; it was amazing, Our waitress, who is also the co-owner with her husband, told us that it was her mother's recipe. We asked if we could get the recipe, not really thinking they would give this family jewel away, but the owner cheerfully provided it.

While finishing off our salad, the cheese plate and crostini arrived. Each of the plates, including the salad were small portions, but I think that's the point; to enjoy a glass or two of wine or beer while enjoying some appetizers.

The cheese plate includes three small wedges of cheese (each different), a fair amount of toasted walnuts, along with dried cranberries, dried mango slices and slices of freshly baked baguette. While we never did learn any details of the three cheeses, they were all very delicious, moving from an aged soft brie type, a medium sharp white cheese, and then a pungent aged blue cheese. It was a delicious combination and went very well with our wine.

The gorgonzola & honey crostini was delicious, and or favorite of the three VERY good dishes. Such a simple combination, but just outstanding flavors. They start with toasted slices of baguette, crumbled gorgonzola, then toasting that until the gorgonzola is bubbly and browning, then top with some freshly toasted pecans and a small drizzle of honey... oh HONEY! It was delicious; so much so, that we ordered a second plate.

There were several other items on the simple menu that sounded great too, so we'll have to do this again.

This place has done it right. A very relaxing atmosphere, with a great wine/beer list and delicious small plates to enjoy with your drink.

We'll be back!

“Perfect”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 25, 2013

We arrived late - about an hour before closing. The Tapas and wine were both very good and reasonably priced. The service was friendly, and genuine - something that is difficult to find. We ended up as the last ones in the restaurant and felt no pressure whatsoever to leave...

“Quality ,close to Ocean, yet slightly off the hectic main drag”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 16, 2013

I am a local homeowner,Wine Enthusiast and Foodie.
I have wined and dined in several Foodie Citadels.
There have been many years of struggle in the downtown Long Beach revival.
District is what we hope the entire downtown looked and felt like.
It is just off the main drag thus does not feel so hectic or Tourist-trap-esque
Wine list and foods are world class.
Close one's eyes and one could imagine being in Paris,Monte Carlo ,Cassis-Provence, NYC,New Orleans,Chicago or Miami
We like and visit often .

“Great night out”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 9, 2013

Went here with my wife and had a tasty flat bread pizza and we each got a glass of wine. Nice comfortable yet sophisticated atmosphere. They had small tables but also couches and chairs with small side tables near a fireplace or in a sitting area. Reasonably priced for a fancier place.
