Don't let the location of this wonderful restaurant deter you. It's in a small strip mall in a so-so part of Long Beach, (but don't worry -- it's quite safe) and well worth the trip. I've made a dozen trips to Thailand in recent years, and Sri Maya is the one place I've found here where the food is as good and as authentic as what I get in Thailand. What does it tell you when a lot of Thais from the area come in there to dine or to get take out? They consistently use the freshest ingredients possible, and it's not unusual to run into the owner at the local market in the morning buying produce and other items for that day.
It's a nicely varied menu, and there is something for everyone, including vegetarians. Their yum nue (beef salad) is fantastic, and one of my favorite dishes there, as is the khao op soparod gung (shrimp fried rice w/ pineapple). Of course, they have the standard fare known to many westerners like tom yung goong, pad thai, etc., and all done very well. I eat here so often and have gotten to know the family that runs the place that dining there seems more like getting together with friends and family rather than being waited on in a restaurant. They've also just opened up a second restaurant in the Belmont Shore area, and from the response to the "soft opening" they just held it's also certain to be a hit.
