“Perfect Honeymoon Night!”
Reviewed July 14, 2011

Spent our honeymoon night here and it was just as good a room as any at Aria hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada (these hotels are comparable and have striking similarities.) They provide robes, have an amazing shower and bathroom space, and heavenly bed. Most comfortable sleep of your life guaranteed! Come here for a special getaway or celebration.

Just back from 4 amazing days in LBC at the Avia Hotel. This is the best hotel in that great city. The room was very comfortable and was well designed for travelers. The rooftop pool was perfect to get some sun and enjoy the scenery with friends. LOL.

Food was good. The workout room was very functional. The hotel is walking distance to many restaurants and more importantly -- the BEACH!

The staff was very pleasant and helpful. I specifically want to acknowledge front desk staff member, Niesha. She was funny and very personable.

We will return. You should book there soon!

We stayed here 6 nights, during which time there were three parties, on different days, some of which required the police to break them up after complaints (from neighbors in the the area, I found out later!)
The management seems to encourage people to rent these rooms for this purpose, and have no concern for the poor souls that paid for a hotel room in the hope of actually sleeping in it.
If you're not in the market for a hotel room in which to base your birthday or bachelor party, maybe you should look elsewhere for someplace to stay in the area.

Dear Valued Guest,
Thank you for your feedback regarding your stay. On behalf of the entire staff I hope you will accept my apologies for the poor experience you had while staying with us. It is never our intention to deliberately book reservations with the knowledge that the guest(s) intends to throw a party, make excessive noise and disturb our other guests. Unfortunately this is the reactive part of this business. When a disturbance occurs, we do our best to address it quickly. If it escalates, we bring in local law enforcement and proceed with the necessary eviction(s). This is not only true at the AVIA Long Beach, but every hotel market in the country.

Fortunately this type of disturbance doesn’t occur often, but again I’m very sorry it was your experience. I hope you will forgive us this experience in time.

Stayed at this hotel while attending a convention at the Long Beach Convention Centre. Hotel is only a couple of (short) blocks away so very convenient. Very close to many restaurants, you could stay here without a car. Parking is across the street in an underground garage. Very nice rooms, friendly staff except in the breakfast restaurant. Staff was snarly when we politely asked if we could have some cups to pour the tea into we had ordered (they brought the tea and left the table, guess we could have just downed it straight from the spout!). I am a member of Expedia's VIP club and this hotel advertises specials however even though it was on the reservation as well as a card presented at the desk at check in, no specials were offered (ie no turn down service, upgraded room etc). The roof top swimming pool area is very nice but frequently booked for private functions. You have a nice view of the area from up there. We would definitely stay here again if needing to attend the conference centre.

Room Tip: Ask for a corner room if you like lots of windows!

Dear Valued Guest,

I am pleased you found AVIA to be a great stay while attending a convention in Long Beach. I apologize for the not so friendly staff at breakfast. I have shared your comments with them and reviewed the importance of customer service.

While we do allow private parties on the roof top area, we do keep our guests in mind so we do not overbook the area. We want our guests to be able to experience the area as well.

Thank you for staying with us and we hope you will stay with us again.

We really enjoyed staying at this hotel over the Memorial day weekend. We were initially a bit skeptical since it was a really great Living Social deal. It turned out to be a great weekend for us. The rooms are very contemporary with a really nice layout. We stayed in the Grand King room for 2 nights and then moved to the Master suite. The Suite is a tad bit bigger overall. The beds and the shower are really amazing, we tried to stay out and about but we kept coming back to just relax! Although, one thing that I didn't really care for was their restaurant. Save yourself some money and grab some food from the surrounding areas. The rooftop pool was very nice and was never really too crowded, the servers there were very pleasant. Overall, our experience with the entire staff was phenomenal and we really can't wait to come back again in the near future.

Room Tip: Ask to stay away from the parking garage.

We are frequent flyers and the only positive thing I have to say about AVIA Long Beach is the king size bed is comfortable.. so if you are just looking for a comfy bed with nice sheets, you have found your place.

A 4* rating ..? I am extremely curious about that - the 2 cup coffee maker makes a 3/4 cup of watered down, no-name brand coffee - the bath products are not sumptuous enough that you want to open them, let alone take them with you - the hotel room "partial city" view was actually 4 outdoor a/c units and a cement courtyard - there is definitely no "wow" factor upon entering the hotel foyer and the hallways are very dark - the room is quite small - I cannot comment on the food since the hours of operation of their kitchen do not meet most people's needs.

We booked a late check out immediately upon arriving, only to have someone ringing our hotel room door bell promptly at noon the next day to inquire as to why we hadn't checked out yet... lovely service - the guy wasn't even apologetic.

The room was not clean to our standards, but we were only there one night and figured it was too much trouble to ring housekeeping. If you expect to dine in the convenience of your own hotel ** BEWARE ** you CANNOT get food at the Avia between 10:30 am and 5:00 pm - NOT EVEN ROOM SERVICE!

** False advertising on the daily Complimentary wine reception, by the way **

When asked at check out if we enjoyed our stay, our response was "we are not likely to come back" - not one person at the front desk followed up with an apology or inquiry about our stay = that speaks for itself.

NOT 4* STANDARDS, from hotel service to amenities, and everything in between....

Dear Valued Guest,

Thank you for your feedback regarding your recent stay with us.  Although we typically receive very favorable reviews from our guests, it is disappointing to learn that you were not satisfied with so many aspects of your experience.  I am very sorry you felt this way and will address the noted service encounters with my team to ensure the necessary changes.  The remaining criticisms I can understand—our hotel certainly isn’t for everyone, yet these physical changes are not within my control as the asset manager.

I’m sorry that you will not return as noted. I hope you will see a way to forgive us this experience in time

This is one of the greatest, hip, quaint hotels in Long Beach. My fiancé and I discovered it while we were down on a romantic trip staying at a hotel near by. When we first walked into the lobby we knew were we were staying next time. The hotel has a very European feel to it, and is kind of sexy and mysterious. Not a huge chain hotel with that corporate vibe, but a bit tucked away and romantic. The rooms are very modern and we had a great view of the ocean... The shower was AMAZING... We enjoyed it very very much! And the bed, let me just say this,it slept so good we had to lift off the sheets to write down the type of matress so that we may purchase one for our bedroom at home! If we could get that shower we would get it too! The bar is very hip with great staff and tasty appetizers. We love this place. It seemed that there were mostly fun loving adults staying there not really a space to be shared with small children, and that was just perfect for us that weekend. The staff is awesome and you are walking distance from everything in the city! We will make this our Long Beach home away from home!!
