This is not your typical hotel experience. If you desire a modern slick hotel with large beds and jacuzzi tubs and room service then this hotel is not for you. However, if you’re looking for a unique experience where you get to be part of Long Beach community for the time you’re there then you’d love this place just like I did.

Here are some pros and cons and tips.

Pros: lots of charm, central location, friendly staff, private, embedded in the Long Beach community.

Cons: If you’re an older person or if you’re a larger person then you might find this to be inconvenient. There is no elevator, the beds are small, the toilet is smaller than modern average. If your room is on the main street then it’s going to be noisy since they have the original window frames from the 1920s.

Tips: bring ear plugs with you. Take advantage of the community room and the little deck and also the roof. If it’s more than one person then get a larger room. Bring water bottles with you. Breakfast is one voucher per stay and not per day.

I stayed at the Broadlind while attending a conference and was pleased with the newly remodelled rooms, great location, amazing juice bar downstairs and terrific coffee around the corner. The building has great features and is original, if you want an experience that's different from the horrible canned modern hotel experience. I recommend the Broadlind. A++ I will definitely return to the Broadlind. Super helpful staff, too.

Room was very small, no elevators, therefore hauling luggage 3 stories high was difficult. No reception area to ask anyone for assistance. Bathroom was outdated, the knobs to the shower kept falling, couldn’t get the temperature correct in the shower because of the knobs, broken tiles in the bath. Extremely noisy at night because there is a bar downstairs. No curtains so every morning as soon as the sun comes up, a lot of light comes through making difficult to sleep. Overall I wouldn’t go back. To pricey for a very small room. Better off staying at a Hotel

My husband and I stayed here while visiting our daughter, who lives nearby. We absolutely loved it! We had a studio room, which was small but comfortable. The kitchenette was well equipped and it was great having a fridge and coffee pot. There is a great sitting area and balcony where we would sit and have coffee in the morning and sit and visit and have a glass of wine in the evening. The location couldn't be better...there are fantastic restaurants and bars all around it and the beach is a short walk away. We will definitely be back!
