National 9 Trails Motel

Having read good reviews of the Trails motel on Trip Advisor and unable to find any other accommodation in Lone Pine {a town we absolutely love} we called and were quoted for 2 suites. We had no problem with the size or cleanliness of the rooms although they were nothing special. Our gripe was the price. Other people had stated that it was good value for money but having paid over $140 per room we do not agree. They advertised a complimentary continental breakfast which consisted of a plastic beaker of Sunny D and a child-size muffin. They would be better off not bothering and knocking the money off the price of the rooms. Still, we did have a very nice breakfast in town. We adore Lone Pine and always drive the Movie Road but doubt if we will be staying at this motel again.

Just for updated information, my wife called to check on room rates for September 1st and was told $99.95 per night. My wife then went to our local AAA office and had them call about room rates for the same day and they were told the same thing, $99.95. So it looks like the motel is not honoring the AAA discount.

I stayed one Thursday night after hiking on Mt. Whitney. The innkeeper was most helpful and informative. Being a season ticket holder for the local high school sports teams he gave me good info on the volleyball playoff game that night. The room rate was most acceptable, the room quite nice, and the location is hard to beat. It is right next door to the movie museum (a MUST see). His son assisted me in the morning; a delightful family operation. I would look to stay here again.

Just wanted to add my opinion.. We have stayed at the Trails Motel the past two years while attending the great Western Film Festival held in October. It is conveniently located next to the Film History Museum. The staff is always friendly and helpful and the rooms clean. If you are into old westerns you should stay here and attend the festival. They even contacted us to conferm this years rooms which we reserved last year before leaving. We recommend the Trails .

I have stayed here a number of time over the past 10 years. Rooms are always clean and well-maintained. Staff is friendly - no negatives. I plan on staying here whenever I go to Lone Pine. BTW, they have their own website: http://www.trailsmotel.com/index.html

A very nice motel room, impeccably clean, with 2 queens, and a nice, clean, cold pool for a very hot day. AC worked great and wasn't too loud, bathtup and all plumbing worked well. We thought this place was a very good alternative to some of the more pricey places in Lone Pine. Its not luxury, but its a very good example of what a cheap motel should be. PS for food the best restaurant in town by far is Seasons.
