My husband and I recently stayed at the Holiday Inn Express while we awaited the birth of our daughter that we planned to adopt. We flew to California from NJ on short notice, with no clue how long we'd be there. Stuck on a different coast than our families during the holidays with nothing much to do but wait, the entire staff was kind and the hotel was comfortable and clean. The staff was able to suggest things to do in the area as well as places to eat and directions to anything we needed. (and put up with us hanging out in the lobby for hours at a time :-)) A week and a half into our stay, our daughter was born, and the staff was as excited as we were. The manager, Beth, even helped us assemble our stroller. Our stay lasted 3 weeks, and we were in the lobby when we got the call that we were clear to take our daughter back to NJ. They cheered along with us. We can't imagine that our long, stressful stay would have been so comfortable anywhere else. The pool/hot tub area was a great place to relax, and the refrigerator and microwave in the room were convenient, so we didn't have to eat out for every meal. The breakfasts each day provided a good variety and the great room was a comfortable place to watch the morning news.

Other than a dryer in the guest laundry that doesn't work very well, there is nothing negative that we have to say about this hotel. Each member of the staff has an outstanding dedication to customer service and personal connections. We would not hesitate to stay here or suggest it to anyone staying in the Lodi area.

Stayed one night in this hotel with my sister in late November 2010. Hotel is fairly new so everything clean and modern. Very spacious rooms with separate sitting area, microwave and fridge. The included hot buffet breakfast was a bonus. Off season so Hotel was very quiet. Front reception very helpful. Would have loved to use the heated indoor pool and spa if we were staying longer - looked very inviting. Lovely morning views from our room overlooking the vineyards. Only downside to this hotel was its distance from the town centre. We didn't have a car and couldn't really walk anywhere because the hotel is right on the outskirts of town. Apart from it's location this was a great hotel. Recommend to anyone looking to stay in Lodi with their own transport.

This Holiday Inn Express was a great value. It was very clean and the staff was very accommodating. They provide free dvd players to check out, as well as fresh baked cookies in the evening and they even had beef stew one night. We stayed in the large room (presidential suite?) and it was wonderful because it provided us with so much space, as well as 2 sinks, 2 sofas and a small kitchen table. The hot tub jets were not working, so that was disappointing, but all in all, it was a great stay & we would stay here again. The only down side is that it is not in the heart of downtown Napa, so you'll need to drive 15 minutes to the wineries. Otherwise, great value!

The hotel was near the freeway so not hard to find. The hotel staff was very helpful and pleasant. Our room was very clean and comfortable. It was nice to have a couch and coffee table to place our laptops and relax. A nice addition was the throw that was placed on the bed which I used while working on my laptop. The breakfast was fair and there was always someone there maintaining the dining area. I would definitely return to stay here.

I stayed one night at the HIE Lodi, with my teenager, who was there for a sports tournament in Stockton. Though kind of far from the playing fields, Lodi was chosen because it's a safer area than Stockton, where there's more crime, particularly car break-ins for travelers. This hotel is close to a freeway, but not close enough to be too noisy. View and surrounding neighborhood are unattractive. No restaurant in the hotel, nothing within walking distance.

The room was pretty nice. Had a little sitting area with a small pull-out couch. Beds were firm and comfortable. And clean -- we remembered to check for bedbugs. A few things were annoying. First, the coffee maker was on top of a cabinet that housed the fridge and micro. You'd have to be at least 6 feet tall to comfortably use it. I'm not, and it was a pain. All I needed was the hot water, since I'd brought my own gear to make a single cup. I forgot to bring a mug, though, and the HIE had these tiny, super-thin foam things that kept the coffee hot for about two seconds.

Second, and this is petty, but the bathroom door swings shut, making it hard to come in and out quickly, especially since that's the only sink in the room. Third, the bar soap is extra foamy. It sticks on your skin and you have to rinse and rinse and rinse. Even then, my skin felt icky, sticky, and stung a little. Nix that soap, please HIE, and get something gentler on the skin. Fourth, shoe shine rag, yes, shower cap, no. I usually bring one, but this time I did not.

Oh, and something more significant: When we opened the door to the room, it smelled. Initially, I thought it was tobacco smoke, but it wasn't. Very unpleasant kind of toxic smell; you know you don't want to be breathing it. I turned up the air for awhile. Not sure if that helped or we just got used to it. Someone in our group smelled it in his room, and said it was the new carpet, outgassing. This property's a year old, and the carpeting shouldn't still be outgassing, but it was the only thing that made sense, given the nature of the odor and the way it permeated the room.

The free breakfast was standard issue mass-produced food. Runny eggs, doughy bagels, etc. The elevators made a lot of noise. Glad our room wasn't next to them. I never looked at the indoor pool or fitness center. Used the computers in the business center, and they were fine.

Staff were very pleasant, professional, and efficient. High marks. I thought the price was ridiculous. We paid $99, and that was the group rate. Way out of line, given the area and the fact that HIE is a lower-end property, no matter how they market it. $79 would be more like it, given that it's pretty new.

Helpful front desk personnel, clean hotel with outdoor pool. Very surprised to get a free evening snack of hot dogs, sausage and chips. We were exhausted from the day of traveling and having a snack at the hotel was perfect. Breakfast was typical Holiday Inn, several items including waffles, eggs, sausage gravy and biscuits. They were waiting for liquor license to open wine bar.

When traveling solo, I tend to stay at Holiday Inn Express hotels and this is, bar none, the best ever. The rates were good, the rooms great, the service incredible! I would highly recommend this hotel. The only very slight negative is that it is located in a pretty "ugly" area of Lodi. Otherwise, great!
