“Crowded , slow, hard to see game”
Reviewed December 12, 2012

Loved the older version of this place, but it was often tough to find a seat, so not surprised that they expanded. Even with the new digs it is still usually a wait to get seated. Food is ok and service is adequate. My main complaint is as a sports bar, the layout is poor. The placement and number of screen often makes it very difficult to find a place to sit close enough to a screen to see the game you are interested in. If you are looking for pub food in downtown Livermore this place is ok, if you also want to watch a game, you may find your experience frustrating.

“If you like Super huge crowds and standing room only then go!”
Reviewed November 23, 2012

I have been to this establishment on 8-10 occasions and go mainly for the large selection of tap and custom beers. Other than that the food is predictably subpar with zero presentation (Chilis, Dennys, they are all the same and Ale house is no different) Oh actually it is different it is more expensive! Anyway, I have been here on several Friday & Saturday nights and it is packed shoulder to shoulder with no where to sit. So you end up standing in the center of drunk 20 somethings talking about which side of their rump they want their next tattoo. Finally, that little device they give you may vibrate and like one of Pavlov's dogs you wag your tail and wait to be seated. Do Not bring a first date here, because you won't here a single thing she tells you due to all the extremely loud chatter. They have lots of big screens for sports, but again unless you go early like 5pm, don't expect to get a seat at the bar--this percentage goes down rapidly as the size of your group goes up. In simple terms; 1 - person maybe 2 - do you feel lucky? 3 - hahaha yeah right! 4+ - Go straight to the "open" St. Anthony style dining hall tables at the back and forget about the sports ok. To sum all this up and to be fair, the beer is great, the food is average and the place is just way too big with no obvious attention to "reasonable occupany."

That's all for now, see you at Ale house for a brew!

“Our Local Pub”
Reviewed October 31, 2012

A great place to hang-out with family or friends, take-in a football match, or a baseball game. Guinness on tap - nothing better that that. The food is pub style - good sized portions, served with efficiency, and friendly staff. No one bugs you to hurry and finish or pushes you to order. Easy going. Outdoor seating and multiple large TV screens all over the inside. Fish & chips are excellent.

“Go for the Tri-tip!”
Reviewed October 17, 2012 via mobile

The Skinny:

Parking: free street parking
Decor: lots of beer cans
Service: super friendly
Bathroom: clean
Soda: well carbonated
Food: delicious

On our way to Yosemite from San Jose we stopped in the quaint Main Street part of Livermore. As we strolled the street we saw the people overflowing out of the Alehouse.
After a short wait we were seated (the place was packed) and ordered.
I had the tri tip sandwich and fries and my hubby ordered the salad and chicken salad sandwich. The tri-tip was delicious and I added the BBQ sauce on the table and it made it even better! The roll was soft and tasty and the fries were so good. The salad was your standard iceberg lettuce fare but the chicken sandwich had a nice tangy bite.

“Always a fun place to visit”
Reviewed October 16, 2012

Not the cheapest place in Livermore to buy a beer, but without at doubt it is the best. Good simple food, and plenty of draft beer options to choose from.
