Description: The Underdog Wine Bar is a hidden gem amongst the romance of the vines in the heart of wine country. We offer an impressive selection of over 50 wines from around the world, California, and our very own Livermore Valley. The bar and lounge offers a warm contemporary approach to our unique wine and food experience. Nestled in the original barrel room of the historic Concannon Winery established in 1883, it features hand crafted tables made from repurposed 100-year old wood. We offer exquisite small plates of food. Think of them as Tapas with a global and California flair. Using seasonal and locally sourced ingredients, the Chefs craft menu items that are meant to be shared and paired with any one or several of the over 50 wines we offer.

“Under The Canopy at Underdog”
Reviewed July 26, 2012

It's hard to beat the bucolic view while dining al fresco at Underdog Wine Bar overlooking the evergreen lawn and vineyards of Concannon in Livermore. Their selection of wines is terrific, with more options being added to augment their local Livermore Valley offerings (a highly applauded move), and their menu is seasonally adjusted, although core favorites remain. For summertime dining, the caprese salad is a delicious, sweetened by the balsamic with honey drizzle and excellent olive oil splash. The 2011 Concannon Reserve Rose is a good pair, with its dry raspberry and rhubarb flavors complementing the tomatoes and basil. Crab cakes with red pepper coulis are delightful with the Prosecco or Darcie Kent Gruner Veltliner. The skirt steak is over-seasoned, alas, but the 2009 Mother Vine Concannon Cab doesn't care, as she is soft and mellow, with forgiving breadth and depth, right down to her cherry-cigar core. The service was spot on, which I hope is not an anomaly, but a sign of a much-needed course correction for this otherwise pleasant wining & dining destination.

Small bites, Big flavor. A must , the outdoor patio. A great stop during wine tasting in Livermore. Centrally located in Livermore Valley, at the Concannon winery. Good tasting flights also . A few kids running around , but all were behaved. Go!

“Beautiful place for outdoor dining”
Reviewed May 27, 2012

We were a group of 8 adults and 7 kids so had a booking for a table on the patio and they were very good about the reservation process and called me when I was late by 10 mins to confirm if we were coming.
The wines were very good though we felt that the food selection was very limited and the paninis were sweet which is not what we expected. The flat bread was very good and the appetizers were good too. Quantity was very small so expect to order much more.
Overall I would give 5 stars to the place for its gorgeous patio sitting especially because we had kids in our group who enjoyed in the grassy area.

“waiting .....”
Reviewed April 11, 2012

this place was highly recommended - so far I've emailed them 3 times seeking information and am still waiting for a reply. Either they are so busy they dont need to follow up correspondence or they can't be bothered. A shame!

“A little Napa in our backyard!”
Reviewed March 27, 2012

The Underdog Winebar is a great place to stop for small plates and wine tasting! The beautifully appointed indoor bar and the very "Frontgate style" outdoor patio furniture are the perfect settings for a fun tasting and bites!
The expensive lawn is available to let the kids run or play ball. You can even bring a picnic to enjoy under the big oak trees!
Note that even though this is located in the same building as the Concanon Wine Tasting room, several other wines are available for tasting at The Underdog.
