My wife and I had never been to the Napa Valley. Our summer was filling up fast so we thought a visit to northern California would give us a chance to recharge before dealing with the busy months ahead. We found Dennen's online, read the reviews and booked three nights in Daisy's Room. We couldn't have been happier. It was all that we hoped for and the innkeeper was such a delight. Having your gourmet breakfast brought to your room each morning put it over the top. We will definitely stay at Dennen's Victorian Farm House again and we highly recommend this tranquil setting for those seeking the country charm and solitude it offers.

We have stayed here several times over about 14 years. It is the perfect getaway for us,
close to Mendocino or Ft Bragg but away from the tourist hoards. Jo and Fred are the
perfect B&B hosts and their breakfasts and ambiance are just the best. We especially
love the almost private cove that is just a five minute walk away. Jo will give you the
directions because the access is unmarked and hidden.

My husband and I stayed here for the Mendocino Film Festival and had a lovely experience. There are ocean views & breezes, access to a secluded cove beach within a short walk, and really nice attention to detail in the room we stayed in. Our room had a fabulously huge bathtub, super-soft sheets with lots of pillows, and best of all, a real wood-burning fireplace which was stocked every day with perfectly arranged kindling and newspaper so that even if you've only ever flipped the switch on a gas fireplace, you could light a single match and have the fire glowing like a boss.

One of the best parts of our visit, however, were the fantastic breakfasts! I love the idea of "breakfast in bed" (our room actually had a lovely little table near the front window where we chose to eat each day) because while the B&B experience is often lovely, making small talk with strangers/new friends first thing in the morning isn't my cup of tea. So I was expecting pastries and coffee/tea - maybe croissants if we got lucky. No sir - Jo makes from-scratch fabulousness like eggs benedict over rustic ham with perfectly poached eggs (truly) and a potato-onion hash, served with perfectly ripe melon and berries, or the lightest, silkiest frittata I've ever had, with homemade guacamole and salsa, served with an orange cornmeal sweet cake and vanilla-bean yogurt with berries and homemade granola. I know I'm even leaving out some of the breakfast wonderfulness - but suffice it to say that it was such an unexpected and wonderful treat.

As other reviewers have said, Jo and Fred are truly hands-on proprietors who really looked after us during our stay (in a non-instrusive way) and were eager to help with dinner suggestions/reservations or anything else we needed.

A dining note: Things close EARLY in Mendo/Little River! We went to the Little River Inn just up the road for dinner one night (fish sandwich & clam chowder, each batch made to order with clams-in-shell in it!) was lovely but we unknowingly just made it under the wire for their 8:30 kitchen closing time! We also enjoyed Wild Fish, just across the street, next to the Little River gas station (trust me, high-end food, rustic location - it's a sweet little dining room with awesome ocean views) and take-out lunch at the Mendocino Market, across from the post office in town.

While we wouldn't necessarily seek out a "Victorian" style/experience, it was awesome to stay in a very historic farmhouse that has well-done updates (ask Jo about their renovations, wow!) and feel that we were part of the history of the area. Oh - and a side note, but I always love this at B&Bs - super-nice bathrobes to wear while you relax in front of the fire! (It gets chilly at night, even in summer, so a fire would be welcome almost any time of year, I'd imagine.)

A wonderful stay and a highly recommended experience.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Victorian room, which was HUGE - incredibly spacious and had a separate living area...

We had a room with a kitchen, wood burning stove, covered deck, and a view of redwoods and the ocean. Clean and nicely furnished, a short drive to Mendocino, and a short walk to Buckhorn Cove, both worth the visit. One of the outstanding features was the gourmet breakfast, which was delivered to our cabin. Finally, the owners are hands on operators, and greatly accommodating hosts. We enjoyed our interactions with them, and look forward to returning.

Jo and Fred are amazing hosts and especially so this last weekend when we took over their property for four days with part of our wedding party. The accommodations, the breakfasts, Jo's famous seafood chowder and pie were all outstanding. We had a view room this time which was very nice, especially the sunset. They went to extra effort to accommodate all of our food needs including one room which had 3 kinds of sugar and 4 kinds of milk I think. We go to visit and to stay every year and will continue to do so!

Room Tip: All the rooms are nice. We like those with a fire place. Some are of course larger and some have a...

This is such a delightful place to stay. It has lots of charm and the rooms are very nice with lots of nice details. The rooms with fireplaces are great. The innkeeper is especially nice and very helpful in planning your stay. She really wants to have you have an enjoyable stay. The breakfast is brought to your room and she wants to accommodate your needs and wishes including types of diet, allergies and any personal wishes you might have. Even when you make your reservation Jo makes an effort to get to know you over the telephone. The grounds are lovely as well as the room. We had a lovely time in this location, it is so beautiful.

We chose to return to this memorable place in Mendocino by way of the coast from Bodega Bay. Our experience from our first trip brought us back to Dennen's. This is a wonderful inn and the owners and staff make it a worry-free experience. The weekend provided us with another great story to share with family and friends. The owners provide a clean, comfortable, and secure room with amenities abound. Our preferences were accomodated with an awesome breakfast served in our room, nothing short of healthy and always fulfilling. At 6am I wake up and start my day, slipping out quietly to the inn's grounds and was amazed at the wildlife and natural beauty. Taking a moment to smell the roses is what this area is all about. Many things to do here, but recommend you do them at seperate times on the next trip you will plan, because you will return. No words I write will bring you the experience that awaits you in the Mendocino area, but the word "Enchanting" comes to mind! Our thanks to Jo, Fred & staff for another memorable stay.

Room Tip: Talk to the owners they are very much interested in your stay being what you want it to be.
