My husband and I first stayed hear on our honeymoon in 1963...and have returned nearly every year since, a lot has changed over 50 years... all of it good. It is a perfect romantic get away from the bay area, about a 3 1/2 hour drive. The rooms are all beautiful and meticulously kept. The food and fun at Ole's bar is always great, as well as dinner in the resturant. Room service is also available..a cozy diner in your room after a bubble bath in the large Jacuzzie, in from of a roaring fire, with the pacific ocean humming outside the patio door...YIKES what else could anyone ask for...if you cannot be satisfied hear you need to stay home.:)

Room Tip: room 269 &268 upstairs, private and quiet with just one shared wall, that is very well insulate...

We had stayed here almost 20 years ago and loved it then. Just spent a weekend there and it is as we remembered. Great location for a get-a-way and the rooms all look out to the ocean. Pet friendly too and we brought along our 3 year old lab. The room had bedding for your dog if you hadn't brought one. Dog bowl and treats too!! Another special treat is the fantastic restaurant on the property. They serve full breakfast and dinner every night. We were lucky enough that there was some entertainment for a $15 fee each while we were there too. The staff is great there too.

Room Tip: Ask for the rooms to the right of the registration area (if you are facing the building). They are...

My friend and I stayed at the Little River Inn for the first time ever, and were in a first floor traditional ocean view room. If you have read the other reviews of this lovely place, you already know the rooms feature enormous patio doors that lead to a common covered deck, complete with 2 rockers and a table outside each room. The magnificence of the panaramic view of the ocean from this resort cannot be overstated. We were shocked by what we got for the low price we paid. A complete value! The rooms were very clean with two queen beds, two leather club chairs flanking an end table, a big dresser and a good sized flat screen which we never even turned on. In addition, there was a round dining table and two chairs.

Little River Inn also maintains a giant DVD library they will lend to their guests, should you ever feel a need to look away from the ocean. The on-site restaurant has a smallish menu; we ate breakfast there daily and happily recommend it! We didn't use any of the resort amenities other than the restaurant because we spent all our time exploring the coast up and down highway 1. Which by the way, offers some of the most challenging roads I have ever seen; steep grades with a hairpin turn at the peak or valley of every one, followed immediately by a very tight s-curve. Very few guardrails or posted signs to warn you of upcoming turns requiring extreme attention to the road and a constant foot on the brakes. This drive is not relaxing in the least. But the scenery, oh it's special! And so is the Little River Inn - you should definitely stay here!

Room Tip: Room 120 - first floor traditional ocean view - perfect unobstructed panaramic view of the ocean fra...

Stayed one night here while driving around Mendocino. Lovely setting and fantastic outlook and we were rewarded with a spectacular sunset. Our room was large, clean and well presented. We didn't have an open fire in the room but that was fine with us. Friendly staff. We ate dinner at the restaurant but unlike many others weren't particularly impressed with the food. It was average home style cooking and quite expensive for what you got. We didn't finish our meals but no-one asked us why. Didn't want to risk a disappointing breakfast as well so when we departed the following morning we ate breakfast on the road. Rating reflects the restaurant experience.

There were seven friends, enjoying side-by-side rooms with a common balcony, rocking chairs, overlooking an incredible ocean scene (of course there was some delicious local wines and snacks involved!). The rooms were spacious, clean, very nice. It was a short scenic drive to cute downtown areas of Mendocino and Fort Bragg. Even in the crisp coolness, we loved the redwoods and the green hillsides, impressed by this beautiful Northern California area.
I would highly recommend this great Inn (all except the restaurant - not such a fabulous experience there).

We stayed at the Little River Inn last weekend for my Moms surprise birthday. Whether taking 128 or Hwy 1 to get there from the Bay the scenic drive sets the tone for a relaxing and beautiful stay. The staff at the front desk were friendly and efficient and we were checked in in no time. Upon arrival the room was well appointed, with a spacious bathroom (with robes and ample towels for 3 people), comfortable beds, a fire waiting to be lit, and a Happy Birthday note and chocolate for my Mom from the Inn, made us feel instantly at home. Our treatments at the spa were fantastic (two 30 min massages, a 1 hr massage, and a facial). Our therapists were fantastic and my massage with Jennifer had me completely relaxed (no small feat in 30 mins!). We dined at the restaurant on Saturday night and our only disappointment was that we had not also dined there the night before! The sommelier paired our wines perfectly to our meal and was so helpful and approachable! My cioppino was the best I've ever eaten and the Olallieberry Cobbler is not to be missed!! From our porch we could see whales breeching and spouting and hear the seals and surf - heaven.

We stayed in a Oceanview Deluxe Fireplace, ground floor room and we did have to close the blinds a few times while changing as there is a walkway directly in front of the rooms. So, if you want the most privacy I would recommend an upstairs room.

I cannot wait until my next visit to the Little River Inn, hospitality, luxury, relaxation, and scenery, it has it all!

Room Tip: For the most privacy opt for an upstairs room.

Our retirement getaway was unexpectedly perfect! Our room looked upon the Pacific whose moods changed daily while we were there. The moon on the bay was so gorgeous that I woke up at 2 am to look at it. The sunshine was lovely with only one foggy day and that was after 3pm. Now, the Inn: we ate breakfast in the dining room which is surrounded by beautiful gardens or if you so choose, an ocean view. Delicious food, charming servers a fantastic view and a full coffee cup. What more can one ask? The bar (ole's) was a friendly hometown kind of place where we ordered food and drinks. This is crab celebration month and the crab cakes are amazing! We could have rooted for the Niner's there but chose to go to our room so we could watch for whales and the game at the same time. We loved everything, it was clean, had plenty of thirsty white towels and had full glass door facing the Pacific. It may not be the newest Inn on the Mendocino coast but in our estimation it is the best choice and reasonably priced.

Room Tip: Request a second floor ocean view, away from the steps. we were next to them and had a little noise...
