“Fine Dining with a Wonderful Sea View”
Reviewed July 3, 2014

The restaurant is quite small - and furnished and lit beautifully. The menu is wonderful and varied, and the execution superb. This is fine dining, from the perfectly put together tarragon pesto black cod, to the nuanced clam chowder, perfectly sautéed fingerling potatoes. I also enjoyed the seafood risotto - nicely done with crab, local fish, prawns and fresh lemon squeezed over the top which gave the dish a nice kick. The bread was delicious - light and fluffy and addictive. Compliments to the chef!

A bit of history - the little building this restaurant occupies has supported many iterations of restaurants over the decades. The unique location, proximity to the large Little River Inn have provided the basis for a number of wonderful restaurants with word of mouth reputations heard far and wide - way before yelp or Trip Advisor existed. I remember eating here in the early 70s - so I'm happy to see that the tradition of fine food continues here.

Great place for a romantic dinner of lunch while traveling the Northern California coast.

“We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner”
Reviewed June 27, 2014

We had a great meal at Wild Fish and enjoyed the service by Amanda, Kelvin and Liz. Our table was by the windows with a terrific view of the cliffs, rocks and the ocean. We shared everything, as usual and started with the soup of the day. We had a bottle of the Husch Sauvignon Blanc 2012 (around $32). It was good and we had some to take home (good for us!) Next we had the Raw Platter ($23) described as "Lime and garlic cured large wild white shrimp, local wild King Salmon cured with lemongrass, Thai chili, brown sugar and basil with wasabi cream, oysters on the half shell with champagne, shallots and cracked pepper mignonette; organic springleaf, radishes, watermelon and cucumber." It was excellent. Audre can't remember the other dishes we had but it was all delicious. We spent $93.63 plus tip.

“Another great find...”
Reviewed June 20, 2014

From the outside,it looks like part of a gas station, but once inside, it's a restaurant that has room, a wonderful view of the cove, and a menu that has many wonderful things! Varied and with fresh fish abound, we couldn't have been happier. A great meal and good service will keep us coming back! Another great find!

“Must Visit while in Mendocino”
Reviewed June 16, 2014

On my first visit to Mendocino, I received a recommendation from our B&B to dine here. Had the best ever Halibut. Chef is extremely talented and creative. Although tiny, the view from the restaurant was expansive. Very nice wine list with lots of local wines you can't get elsewhere. For anyone visiting Mendocino, I highly recommend this hidden gem of a restaurant. You will not be disappointed. I will definately go back on my next visit to Mendocino. Make sure you do not miss it when you are there.
