“What a great time!”

The property looked wonderful on the Web and it didn't disappoint when we arrived. Superb accommodations and a really super staff. We enjoyed the reception each evening but especially appreciated the breakfast at the door each morning. Original and delicious cuisine that made us forgo our diet plans for another few days. Don't stay here unless you are ready to be pampered.

We arrived without reservations. We were very pleased the Glendeven Inn had a beautiful suite for us. The wine bar, in the barn, was newly opened and my hats go off to the owners. They have selected good wines and the hors d'oeuvres were delicious. The lovely property has llamas and a chicken coop with hens. In the morning, breakfast is served to your room, in a wicker basket, filled with a perfect breakfast.
I advise everyone visiting the area, pack your hiking boots and make time to explore the Van Damme (Little river) campground and the trail up through the majestic redwood forest. Also take your camera and walk out to the sea cliffs and keep your eyes open for migrating whales and playful seals. All of this is right outside your door of the Glendeven Inn.
We highly recommend is Inn, we will be back,

Coming from Southern CA, we didn't know what to expect as we wound through the highway above San Francsico. What we discovered was PARADISE! After tunneling through the redwood forest, the road emerges onto the pacific coast highway, with breathtaking views of the sea. Not far up the road was Glendeven Inn, situated conveniently off the highway and just across from the ocean. We arrived during "happy hour" when the proprietors make wine available in the wine bar[n] -- free of charge to guests. It had a wonderful, cozy atmosphere. We went to our room and immediately made a fire, drank wine and looked out at the ocean from our window. Reading through the guest book, it turns out Bill and Hilary Clinton stayed there over 20 years ago! Highlights of our stay included: feeding the laamas & chickens, drinking wonderful wine, hiking from the inn to the ocean, and the mere joy of relaxing in our bedroom in front of the fire as we read our books. John and Mike, the innkeepers, have an eye towards service and comfort. The food was great and the hospitality top notch. An unqualified recommendation to everyone!

We stayed at the Glendeven Inn after I proposed to my girlfriend on the beach during our horseback riding tour on the beach. I chose Glendeven because of the remarkable service I got from owner John before I even arrived. He was very informative about the area and he also went as far as making a dinner reservation so our day would be perfect. When we arrived we were greeted by Ashley and at that point I knew I chose the right place to stay. When we got to our room it was more than the pictures show on the internet. We stayed in the Carriage house suite. We had our very own separate area to park and it was secluded from all the other rooms. Our breakfast was made to our liking every morning and brought to us, in fact one day by John the owner himself. The views from the property are great and the llamas and chickens added even more. Glendeven is a 5 star quality inn for accomodations and service. I believe that this weekend was extra special for my girlfriend and I because we stayed here. We plan on coming back every year because we had such a great experience. If you dont stay at Glendeven Inn while visiting the north coast, you will really be missing out. Thank you John, Ashley, and staff, for making our weekend unforgettable.

Twenty-seven and a half years ago when we first visited Glendeven for our honeymoon, we were entranced. We have returned several times over the years and like a good marriage, Glendeven gets better and better. The faces have changed a bit but the heart has grown deeper. The rooms, the food, and the character are all superb. We wandered the garden, fed the chickens, and chatted with the llamas. Our Garret room bespoke comfort and ease and the ocean view with almost full moon was stunning. Sitting by the Farmhouse's well stoked fire in the evening with a glass of fine wine and my knitting while my husband relaxed with a book was pure bliss. John is a most kind and gracious host. Ashley and Nancy were excellent sources of local lore and good humor. We have visited Glendeven in warm winter sun as with this trip and during cold lashing storms. There is no place I would rather be on the Mendocino coast than Glendeven.

This was our second time staying at Glendeven. It is such a beautiful, romantic old house. As we have a small child, we stayed in the Barn Loft (self contained and keeps the main house quiet and secluded for couples). This is a briliant place to stay with family. Lovely big living areas with beautiful views, a wood burning fire, and easy access to the stunning coastal walks.

John and Mike are lovely hosts. They made sure we were comfortable and even took a grocery order so we had all the essentials in the fridge waiting for us when we arrived.

Everything about this place is well thought out. We love it and will definitely be back again.

This beautiful inn is a perfect place to stay for getting quality time away with loved ones or good friends. Our rooms above the Wine Bar[n] were spacious and comfortable with cozy bedding, a great shower, a potbelly fireplace, and comfy furnishings for curling up with good books or conversation with friends. Public rooms including the main building's living room and the Wine Bar[n] were great meeting places for us before heading out for shopping or hiking and before going out to dinner in the evening. The Wine Bar[n] in particular is a treasure. It attracts locals and guests from other inns, has a modern comfortable decor, and serves great wine flights from the Anderson Valley. But the best part was the wonderful proximity to hiking trails at the state park - accessible directly from the property. As well as great walks/runs along the ocean - also accessible directly from the Inn. I was visiting from Chicago (very flat) and it was wonderful to stay someplace where I could just walk to such great trails! The innkeepers keep livestock on the premises and we had fun visiting the llamas and the chickens (fresh eggs are used in the room service breakfasts!). Finally, the innkeepers are just delightful. They give you your privacy and don't 'overdo' the small inn experience like some places can. But they will happily give you a personal walk out to visit the llamas. And if you are really lucky, you might be able to talk John Dixon into leading a yoga class first thing in the morning. I didn't personally partake, but I heard from other guests that it was great! I will be definitely back!

  • Disliked — Can't think of a thing.
