My wife and I just got back from our first stay at Glendeven. It will NOT be our last as this was by far the best of the best that Mendocino and surrounding areas offer. In the past, we've stayed in Mendocino Village .... not any more- the Glendeven property, the animals, the Briar Rose Room with an incredible un-obstructed view of the Ocean from the private Deck, the hopsitality and attention to detail- everything was as perfect as it could be- We will be back as this is now and will be our favorite get-away place in the area.

We have been going to Glendeven Inn for over thirty years and it never fails to disappoint us. The room is terrific, the breakfast delicious and the ambiance totally relaxing. Directly across the street is an area for hiking along the ocean. The inn is just a five minute drive to Mendocino and the restaurants there, although the Farm to Table dinner at the inn is delicious. Try to stay on one of the nights that they serve dinner. We have had a great experience meeting other couples from the Bay Area at the dinners.

I've been inspired to contribute my first Tripadvisor review.

My wife and I have been staying at the Glendeven Inn for over two years now. We've stayed in three different rooms so far (The Garret, Bay Loft, Carriage House) and the Barn Loft.

The experience is consistently memorable, but in a different way with each passing season, room selection, and occasion. Here we had our first real getaway as a couple, marriage proposal; we were even married here. Romance is the common theme, but it's been home to a full gamut of memories in just a couple short years - memories that may not have been so special had they taken place elsewhere.

John is a kind, gracious host, that is down-to-earth; always mindful of the needs of his guests, going above and beyond; but at the same time is never intrusive. We always feel welcome, and despite being fully booked at times, we generally feel that we have the place to ourselves. From the charming grounds, to the main house, to the beautiful rooms; the Glendeven experience is top-notch.

I could go on about the awesome staff, excellent breakfasts, treats in the main house, etc., but I'll save that for another review.

We've stayed at many B&B's; many we'd consider great. However, great does not always translate into memorable; here they go hand-in-hand.

we loved our short stay at the glendeven inn. the coastline, which is just a few minutes walk away, is absolutely spectacular. the grounds of the inn are quite pleasant as well. we loved the crazy cute chickens, which were quite unique to say the least!

staff were helpful and kind. our room was simply but beautifully decorated, very serene. everything here was just right. i would not hesitate to recommend this peaceful inn to friends, and i hope to make it back some day!

We have been going to the Mendocino coast area on a regular basis for 40 or more years, and have stayed at the Glendeven Inn near Little River since it opened. During all those years, the Inn has gone through many upgrades, and two ownership changes, both good, bringing new ideas, and delights. All the rooms are charming, well maintained, and each with a different character. Breakfasts are sumptuouse, and there is a herd of stately Llamas on the many acre property
From the Inn, there are several walks through a pine forest to the coastal surf, and the Van Damn state park. Good restaurants are in the town in the old timber towns of Mendocino and Fort Bragg.
This Inn is a really good place to stay to explore this beautiful part of the California Coast!

Absolutely beautiful location and beautifully, yet comfortably appointed rooms. Stayed in the Pineroom. ..fireplace going every minute we were there. From the minute we arrived, we were told nothing was off limits.. we could walk anywhere, into and out of llama pastures, feed the chickens (a bag of chick food provided :) ), coffee and sweets in the Farmhouse at any time, wine and appetizers in the evening (Yummy!). Did not do the private dinner... but will next time for sure. Saw the setting, smelled the food cooking... and realized it was a 'should have done it!" Great walk to the gorgeous ocean with trails all along the cliffs. A definite 'do-again'.

Room Tip: I don't think there would be a bad room. They are described accurately on their website.

Glendeven Inn has become a tradition for us - and I feel spoiled just saying that. My wife and I stayed in the Garret room (we've also stayed in the Bay View room) on this most recent visit for a couple of nights and I wish it had been longer. It's one of the highlights of our trip from Portland to San Francisco. All the little things that contribute to the wonderful experience are so well done. This time we got to feed the llamas, which was REALLY cool. John is a GREAT owner/host, and his staff is also great. Couldn't be more hospitable and responsive and friendly. The wine bar(n) also adds to the experience. First of all, the wines are local and it's a great selection. And you can buy the bottles right there if you like them, no need to go to the wineries (many of which are right down route 128, we stopped at a couple of them ourselves on the way out). The second night we had a brussels sprouts dish as the small plate served with the wines. And we usually end up having a nice conversation with other guests. This place does such a great job of being a terrific bed and breakfast but without being intrusive or stuffy or all too rabbits-in-dresses. Then there are the delicious breakfasts. And the chickens. And Jon running his dog in the morning. Honestly, I don't know if I'd even stay in the Mendocino area if it weren't for this place. It is truly a destination in and of itself and our vacation would not be nearly as memorable without it. It adds so much to the trip. I also think the place is a good value, too. Boy, do you get a lot for your money. I HIGHLY recommend the Glendeven. If you're staying in the Mendocino area, you are crazy if you don't stay here. Now sure I haven't stayed everywhere else in the area but I talk to other people and I'm telling you, just stay here, you will not regret it.

Room Tip: Garret room is less expensive than the Bay View and you have an extra flight of stairs to walk but i...
