Casa G is reliably great, from the corn chips and salsa to the 'soup or salad, señor?' to the Coronas, margueritas, and, my favourite, camarones Acapulco. My first visit was in 1991, and on 15+ trips to the US it's been a Leona Valley favourite. Just 58 miles from LA, it's an easy day trip for Aussies trying to fill in a day before a late flight home (and it's so un-LA), or a tasty detour on the LA-Vegas run (from LAX take 405 north, then 5, then 14, then exit at Palmdale. After lunch, get back on 14, head north to Mojave, then east to Barstow (and factory outlets) then up 15 to Vegas. If you're heading back to LAX, take the scenic route via Bouquet Canyon (GPS recommended to steer you through Santa Clarita).
PS Leona Valley is a great example of rural small town America.
