$5 is a small price to pay for a unique long lasting memory. We spent about a half hour taking pictures of us driving through the tree a few times, walking through/standing inside the tree and browsing the gift shop. A nice break on our road trip.

This was a great way to spend $5. The drive through tree sounds kind of corny, but it was great fun. The park like area has a small lake, picnic tables, and bathroom facilities. There is another large redwood that is laying on its side that makes an excellent place to take pictures.

The gift shop has a log of items made from redwood.

How cool is the experience and the amazement you and your family will have when you find yourself driving through a tree. Not just any tree but a redwood tree in the sequiah national forest. It is one of those things that you cant grasp until you actually see them first hand. You will be amazed at how big they are and how precious they are because they are hundreds of years old. It is like you are living in a fairy tale when you are walking beneath them. A must see on any road trip.

What would a trip to the redwoods area be without a kitschy drive through a redwood tree? Its a beautiful side trip, fun to do, and fun to watch others do it... all for $5. Our little KIA was a tight fit and we saw quite a few people attempt and back up because their cars were too large. And, as always, there is a gift shop to extract more money from you.

We have been within a mile of the tree the last three years in a row, but at night when it was closed, and we finally got to go see it this year. It is a fun place to go for $5. You definitely don't see trees this big in Florida. We were there fairly early in the morning (around 9:30AM) so it wasn't too busy. We got all the required tourist pics...car driving through tree, us standing inside the tunnel, etc. If my kids would have been with us they would have enjoyed it as well. I even picked up a couple of souvenirs at their shop. The only thing that made me mad was I didn't realize the entry ticket got you money off in the store until after we left. Oh well, my mistake.

If you are in the area, especially with kids, take the time to go here.
