“Great Dinner, nice room”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2012

We had a really fine vegetarian dinner. The proprietress was very thoughtful and efficient. The room was clean, spacious and tastefully furnished. The grounds are well kept up. Only negative is the location facing highway 395 - the traffic dies down at night, but still hear cars zipping by occasionally.

The place was really cute. It was located right next to the highway which means it can be loud in the morning as traffic starts, but you feel that the owners made a real effort in creating a nice, homey place. We stayed there for a night after visiting yosemite national park. Great location and not far. Dinner was excellent, they value organic and local ingredients which i appreciated. Food was a bit pricey though.

Tioga Lodge is a mixed bag. On the con side it is not in walking distance of town and there are few amenities in the room. On the pro site it has nice staff and great food at the restaurant. There is onsite kayak rental if you ask that they should advertise more!

Arriving from Nevada to the Yosemite, we found luckily this lodge, managed by a Chinese lady, full of common sense and very good cook. The lodge cabin we had is spacious, clean and the old style bath tup was charming and not kitsch. The bed very comfortable. The lodge is along hte main road but very silencious environment surprisingly. We passed in July and the green around the lodge was full of wild flowers at this stage. The kitchen is probably the best surpise, she cooks with organic good quality raw materials, from vegetables to the meat, no junk food, no usesell sugar or added flavor, just good natural kitchen, a real surpise in this area. I would recommend this place without hesitation to all my friends.

Room was very sparce and traffic noise was terrible. Room was clean or we would have left. Room fee was charged immediately upon reservation and no one was available upon check out to tell them our complaints. Would not recommend. Bed was old and squeeky. The place has potential but needs work. No TVs, no AC. Fan could only run on low or it made lots of noise.

Room Tip: Lake front rooms are on the highway---lots of noise

Bathroom needs some updating/mainteneance. Windows wouldn't stay open if the breeze came up. Otherwise comfortable and clean. Too bad it's not on the lake side of the road though. Quite a bit of road noise during the day, early morning and evening. Quiets down at night though.

Room Tip: we had room 5 which shared only one wall. Nice porch out front and nice lawn to sit in the shade and...

I made a reservation for 2 room in Tioga lodge on May 6 for $300.00. The next day, May 7th, my Credit card was charged for the full amount.
Two days later I had to cancel this reservation. I called them first. They said I needed to submit my request it by email, which I did the same day.

THREE WEEKS LATER I STILL DIDN’T HEAR FROM THEM AND DIDN’T SEE MY MONEY.

I emailed them again and let them know I was going to write a review on Trip Advisor.
Then they finally credited my credit card, but $40 less. Their policy states “ If you cancel or change your reservation with 7 days prior notice, there will be a cancellation/handling fee of 10% of your entire reservation or $20 USD, whichever is higher.” I contacted them again asking to refund $40.00 since there still was 3.5 month before the reservation date, and because their non-responsiveness for 3 weeks caused me to pay extra $300.00 on my credit card that wasn’t in my best interest. Of course, they didn’t reply at all.

I understand now, based on my experience and other posts on Trip Advisor that they don’t care about customers. They just care about getting your money any possible way. I haven’t heard of any other hotel that would keep you money no matter how far in advance a cancellation was made.
I'd recommend everyone to think twice before having any deal with them.
