“Best place to stay in Lee Vining”

Overall great place to stay. We were upstairs and it took 15 mn for showe to get warm. CA is in a drought. Staff was very polite and friendly. Towels and sheets pretty worn out and pillows too soft.Good location. Close to restaurants, lake, Yosemite.

The hotel itself is clean, the room we had was plenty large, and the folks very nice and helpful. But the grounds are what make the place. Beautifully landscaped with nice gardens and a good view of the Mono Basin. With their lawn furniture it makes a good place for a relaxed drink before dinner. The coffee shop has only pastries and coffee so you have to go a block down the road if you want a full breakfast. The sign you see from the road is opposite the hotel, so if you are driving South you should be in the right lane, if North in the center lane, to turn in. When we were there the traffic wasn't all that much to worry about. I would definitely stay there again when in the area.

Spent the night here recently on my way south to Death Valley. Its a big place w/ a variety of room options including a couple of cabins. The grounds are well kept w/ attractive sitting areas and the property is pretty well maintained. There is no pool but great views of Lake Mono if yr situated correctly. Breakfast is not included. My room (45) was pleasantly large w/ lots of windows and space and a nice bathroom w/ a jacuzzi. Nice! There was asmall fridge and even a microwave. Lots of amenities! So why you ask only 3 stars ? Right! The beds are more tired than I was! Saggy w/ cheap bedding and linen. They drop the ball on their beds their thin towels and ther cheap bath products! This would be a 4 if those problems were corrected. And at the whopping price of greater than 100 dollars there is no excuse for this!

Room Tip: go upstairs and close to the wi fi tower

My wife and I decided to spend a few days visiting the California high Sierras, travelling along Sonora Pass and Tioga Pass in Yosemite National Park. This was in late July, the height of the tourist season, without hotel reservations. We found the Lake View Resort and decided to book a room for the night (then went on to upper Yosemite for the rest of the day, a short drive away). Our room was across the highway from the main resort, with a nice view of Mono Lake. The room was comfortable and the price very reasonable given the season. We found a couple of nice restaurants within walking distance. A great place to establish a home base for exploring the Eastern side of the Sierras and the high country.

Room Tip: Rooms in the main section have better views and are closer to te nice gardens.

We only stay there for one day. My initial impression was very good, staff seems friendly, room is old but clean and adequately maintained. Mattress is on the soft side. WIFI is hit or miss but understandable consider it uses satellite as there is no DSL/Cable service. Location is excellent, there are at least two decent restaurants nearby, a grocery store and two over-priced gas stations. It is minutes away from Mono Lake Visitor Center.

I and a friend stayed at the Lake View for two nights in connection with a hiking trip into NE Yosemite. While our room, in the motel part of the Lodge, was clean and relatively comfortable, with a partial view out over Mono Lake, it was overpriced (reflective I guess of high occupancy during August in the Yosemite vicinity). What struck me most about the Lodge was the fact that the staff felt totally powerless to assist with any of the several requests we made for assistance. Leave a duffel for a couple of days while in the back country? Have to talk to the boss, and s/he ain't here. Spotty internet? Same. Ice and coke machine broken? Same. Air conditioner doesn't work? Same. Need some duct tape for a broken window? Check with the market next door. Need quarters for the laundry down the street? Tough. I hold the owners of this facility to blame for being literally care less. Will not stay here again.

Room Tip: Don't get a cabin if you want to access the internet...book in the motel. Rooms across the stre...

Hubby and I stayed here for a couple of nights. We wish we could have stayed longer! Check in was friendly and the room was wonderful. The room was clean and the bed was comfy. We had a great view of some of the gardens when we sat on the balcony and enjoyed watching the hummingbirds and Stellar's jays having fun. Parking was so convenient as we could just bring our luggage right in without having to climb stairs (I had requested a ground floor due to hubby having trouble with stairs and the Lodge honored that request). The view of the lake was limited, but it's only a short and scenic drive to get closer to Mono Lake. One of the BEST things about this place is the honesty! I inadvertently left our camera in the room when we left and we were no further than an hour away when the cell phone rang and it was the Lodge letting us know that the housekeeper had found and turned in the camera to the front desk! The caller let me know that she would send the camera out to us and sure enough we received it a couple of days later (which is why I am able to attach some of the wonderful pics taken during that trip)! We will definitely be back!
