“Convenient & clean but a bit overpriced.”

Located right on US 395, just north of the road that takes you to the Yosemite National Park entrance, this motel is a convenient stop whether you're visiting the park, Mono Lake or just passing through. The rooms are quite small but well kept. (There seems to be a small problem keeping the light bulbs working). The garden is lovely and is a great place to take your coffee or muffin in the morning.

Note that several of the rooms have shared bathrooms which may be several doors away.

Spending a lot of time in resort towns myself I understand the need to take advantage of short vacation seasons, but I will say that I found the place a tad overpriced for what you got - particularly the shared bathrooms. Internet service was slow both times that we stayed. I suspect there isn't a whole lot of competition in the town as well, so it's nice to have a clean reliable place.

I have no problem recommending that you stay here, but it's an overnighter rather than a mutl-day place.

Room Tip: If it's important to you, try to get a room with an en suite bathroom.

What can I say? I try to stay here at least once a year. The rooms are cute and the property is spotless. The gardens are so pleasant and one of my favorite things is to get a latte in their coffee shop and sit out early in the day to enjoy the flowers and watch the birds.
Not quite sure why anyone needs a TV in the Eastern Sierra as it is such a beautiful place.

Room Tip: Like the rooms facing the garden

This El Moro hotel is a special gem. The price was right, and our cozy room was right by the garden. We sat out there and enjoyed the sunflowers, hollyhocks, butterflies and hummingbirds while sipping our wine.

We recommend this place to anyone and will stay there again. The staff is friendly and the coffee in Latte Dah is excellent.

Located in the Eastern Sierra, near Yosemite's western summer entrance, the El Mono has small rooms with shared bath/shower. Its cute coffee shop is the place to meet locals and visitors sharing convo's, sit on the porch and gaze at Mono Lake, or sit in your room or the cafe and watch the birds. An abundant and colorful flower garden overflows with blossoms in summertime and encourages the birds that compete for feeders. Its a refreshing place to clean off after a long backpacking trip. Has good wireless. Thank goodness there was no TV.

Room Tip: Rooms that face flowers have a great view, but even rooms on the side street have flowers and bird f...

The room at the El Mono was small and cozy, but I was a little bummed to find no TV in the room. Not a big deal, but it's nice to have. Shared bathroom wasn't an issue and the motel was a short walk to dining.

We really enjoyed our stay here. We were in one of the upstairs rooms with the shared bathroom and it was quite cozy. There were never any issues with waits for the bathroom or the shower. The location was excellent and the staff were great. We'd stay here again if we were coming through Yosemite.

I stayed at this adorable place one my way to surprise family camping in Yosemite. It was such a delight. Unique rooms, super clean, great linens, Farthest thing from a I expected. The little organic coffee shop was filled with great energy and visitors from all over the world. There were still colorful flowers in bloom (even though its late summer). Super cool staff made us feel so welcome. We got a room with a private bath which is liked. Loved no TV! There are shared bathrooms in middle of property so get room away from that if you a light sleeper. (doors shutting). Amazing view of Mono Lake. Cant wait to go back.!
