“Very clean and the people make you fell like family.”
Reviewed January 6, 2010

I think this motel is a great value. It has a lot of character but what was most important is it was very very clean. The people that own the hotel make you feel like family. It's almost like you want to go back just to visit them. I highly recommend this place. It's not a huge room and doesn't have lots of extras but it's an exceptional value for the money!

Needing to get away this summer, we twice stayed at the Shasta Lake Motel. It exceeded our expectations in every way. They were very clean yet really comfortable. This place is perfect for families. We sat in the hammock, played tetherball, sat in the chairs in from of the room and watched a lightning storm in the mountains. There is a large grassy area with covered picnic tables, bbq's and a net. We played whiffle ball there often. The pool is very clean as well with really comfy pool chairs and a nice deep end. It a great area to gather with friends and stage a family "happy hour". The owners are just super nice people who really want you to enjoy your stay. They have kids and know what families need to relax. They will give you brochures to help plan your activities and even opened the pool early for my daughter both stays. Really helpful and nice. We had a room with a mini fridge that even had a decent little freezer. We did not have to go anywhere to grab an ice cream and Stephanie even had a plastic wine glass so you can take your evening glass of wine to the pool while the kids swim. It's little touches such as these that make this place feel like your own home away from home. We really reconnected as a family and mom majorly relaxed (finally!). When you stay there, you are within walking distance of three great little restaurants, including a bar & grill as well as a great stocked grocery store so you don't have to drive much at all. You can have fish tacos at the Bass Hole, organic food at Allysons, a milkshake or coffee at the log place or buy meat and just bbq at the motel. Tell the kids to look for the faces on the trees. Also, the fishing guide they recommend, Ben Raimondi, with Fish'in Comfort is wonderful! Beautiful boat, great with adults and kids and an all around good guy. We will definitely be back a third time and have recommended Shasta Lake Motel to everyone we know!

Our room was # 9 and it was definitely big enough/roomy for 2 adults and 2 teenage kids. It was clean and comfortable. the kitchen was great to have. The pool was very refreshing! The kids enjoyed basketball and me and my husband enjoyed the hammock. Stephanie and Jay are very nice owners. they take care of your needs. They are very friendly and always around. We'll definitely go back again - summer time and winter time!

Stephanie and her husband run a laid back., quaint friendly motel which seems more like a visit to your relative's (the ones you like) place. From goofy tetherball and evening swims, with rooms that are a great value and simple but comfortable, this motel is exactly what you want in the foothills near Lake Shasta.

Stephanie is as friendly as she can be, helping everyone with their plans and their troubles, and that's because she truly enjoys helping travelers and making her place as friendly as can be.

If you're in the Shasta Lake area, THIS is the place to stay.

I thought this motel was a great place to stay. The rooms were comfortable, clean, and well appointed. Lakehead was a nice break from the city life. A beautiful view of the mountains and stars, i almost fell asleep in the hammock. The pool was a very welcoming place to cool off from the heat. I even ended up staying another night because it was so enjoyable. I recomend this wonderful motel to all traveling through.

I actually live locally, but met up with a friend, who is a teacher, visiting from the pacific coast traveling with her class of 22 (35 total including parents). They were in the midst of camping in lakehead and their last night when a torrential rain storm happened and flooded most of the tents. We stopped in at Shasta Lake Motel about 10 p.m. and the owner Stephanie was so accomadating, opened up a whole wing of the motel for our group with lots of extra towels. The rooms were clean and country quaint. Everything you could possibly need all right there. I will be vacationing locally this year and Stephanie, you will be one of stops! Thank you!!!!!! Reservations: Making a reservation was easy but must be done by phone--there is no online mechanism. The toll-free number was answered promptly and pleasantly, and my preferred room was reserved at the rate expected. I was asked whether I'd have my dog with me, which I knew was allowed, per the website, but the added $10 charge was unexpected, but doable.

Check-in: we arrived at our predicted, late time and were greeted promptly. The reception area has a really neat pool with turtles (Red Sliders?) and fish, which the resident dog apparently antagonizes regularly. We were checked in quickly and made it to our room.

Room: We stayed in Room #2 with the Queen bed. The room was slightly smaller than I had expected but still completely comfortable. The wood-paneled walls give a warm and rustic feel. The DirecTV connection isn't so rustic but is equally welcome! The flat-screen TV was in perfect working order. There is no in-room phone, but it is a very short walk to the office.

The room comes with a small coffee maker for which a regular pod is supplied (no decaf nor tea is offered). There is also a microwave (which we did not use) and a refrigerator, which was off when we arrived. I found the control inside the fridge (no knob, but functional anyway), turned it on, and by morning, our bags of ice cubes were frozen solid and our yogurt plenty cold.

There are two large drawers in the dresser under the TV and drawers in each nightstand, as well as a hanging rack with several regular hangers. There is an in-room AC and a separate heating unit, but the weather was comfortable and we didn't use either. The window is screened with vertical blinds which give ample privacy. The sidetable lamps are quite nice.

The bathroom is small but quite usable. There is a window, high enough for privacy, that looks out upon picturesque trees. The shower and tub were pristine, and the towels likewise clean and surprisingly soft. The toilet was a little unwilling but worked on the second try. Surprisingly, soap is provided for the sink and one for the tub, but no shampoo. I asked at reception and she said it isn't normally supplied, but did find me some, which was certainly welcome! The shower temp was a little erratic but the flow was strong, and hot was sure hot! (Be careful with your kids--it could get close to scalding temp.)

There is a pool, but it didn't open until 10AM so we didn't use it.

Overall, this is a charming motel with easy access from the freeway (and ample signage) and a very good alternative to our usual Motel 6 in Redding, which costs about as much but has been noisy and is a little sterile/bare bones. (I still think they should provide shampoo, though!)
