I made reservations a year in advance and the waiting was well worth it. We were met by Josie who warmly welcomed us and showed us to our room "The Courtyard". This had 2 floors with 2 large bedrooms on the first floor, one with twin beds and one double. The bathroom was on the same floor and quite large. The upstairs had a kitchen, dining and living room. The furnishings were old but seemed appropriate - we liked them. The rooms were quite chilly but each bedroom had a space heater which warmed them up nicely and Josie gave us a space heater from her office for the living room so we were quite comfortable.
We were able to walk freely around the castle and gardens which were both quite cool. Everyone was very friendly and we quite enjoyed our stay here.
I would recommend it to anyone who wants to try something different and doesn't expect the Ritz. Just enjoy it for what it is - the rare opportunity to stay in a really old castle.More
