“Wonderful Even without Snow”
Reviewed January 18, 2014

We had a large group here for a two day meeting. The resort was very attentive to our group and all of our various needs. We had meetings in the ballroom and meals in the room next door. We also had some of our meetings in the room that overlooks the lake- very nice. We had dinner one night in the restaurant in the private room right by the entrance. The room is surrounded in glass with wine bottles from floor to ceiling for privacy. Our room was one of the suites on the first floor. It was the corner room- 156. Very nice if you want some extra breathing room. The spa tub is hysterical how big it is. One of the attendees was in the suite room 330- they had the group up to the room and there was plenty of room for a large group. That room was beautiful with a bedroom, and a dining room and living room- very, very nice for entertaining. I highly recommend this location if you have spouses attending the meetings. The Village is in walking distance and was a nice place for people not attending the meetings to go without having to drive somewhere. The food for the all the meals was wonderful!

Room Tip: Room 303 - is the large suite- awesome!

If you survive the drive to this place you will feel rewarded.

The sky is clear, the water is clean. Unusual for California.

The resort is well appointed, remodeled with new carpets, great beds. We spend a lot of time at Marriotts, and this will not disappoint.

The restaurant has good food and decent prices, which you don't find at all Marriotts. They pour a nice, full glass of wine at reasonable prices.

Go and enjoy yourself. But leave the RV at home, cause you won't make it there!

I took my three daughters there last weekend for a girl's night away. None of us had stayed there before. It was a wonderful, relaxing, and peaceful stay! The rooms had a view of the beautiful lake, and were very comfortable. The only one negative comment is that our room, for some odd reason, did not pick up the Wifi, but my daughter's room next door did. No biggie! The hotel's engineer even came to our room to help to no avail. You can walk from the hotel to the market or the village. During the day we walked a gorgeous natural dirt path around the lake and found many natural surprises along the way! At night we went into the Jacuzzi. In the morning we got our coffee from the little café and sat by the big roaring fire in the main lobby and talked with other guests. It was like being in our own home! The staff were all friendly and helpful. We would definitely go again and I highly recommend it!

Room Tip: Try to get a lake view!

As a family we spent three nights at the hotel just before Christmas. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, although there was a minor hiccup over our booking when we arrived.
The hotel is welcoming and set in a lovely location alongside the lake and we were fortunate to have two rooms overlooking the lake through the trees. The rooms we had were well furnished and very comfortable, generally good but there was some noise from the rooms above us.
The facilities at the hotel are good with the spa area, outdoor heated pool and gym.
The hotel restaurant appeared to be a bit expensive but there are some good restaurants around the village square. The village area is just a short walk from the hotel.

The hotel is within easy reach of the Snow Mountain ski resort which had good snow conditions on the lower slopes during our stay

Plenty of places to walk in the area and some beautiful scenery.

Note if you are driving to this area in the winter months you will probably need snow chains.

One little grumble the daily Service charge had been raised from $17 to $20 per room, per night without any notification.
.

Room Tip: Try to get a lake side room, the higher the better.

Husband and I needed to get away from Los Angeles craziness. Booked one night at Lake Arrowhead Resort and Spa. Was all ready to go and came down with food poisoning! Trip was endangered and cancellation period was already over. Fretted, called the hotel - enter Melissa, front desk manager, who swiftly pushed the reservation to the next day with no extra charge. The following morning, recovered from illness, we traveled with our 6-lb Pomeranian. Read the reviews on TA, didn't expect much. Booked a lakeview room, requested high floor. Weren't sure we were going to get one, since we brought pooch, but had read about "the first floor for pets" and wanted to avoid it.

Lo and behold, we were put in a third floor room with lake view - very, very nice! Average-sized room, very adequately furnished. Internet was free and fast. The patio had an unobstructed view of the lake with no sight of any other balconies or people - super! The King bed was extremely comfortable - plenty of down pillows, down comforter, etc. A small fridge with nothing in it, so we had to order room service, which was very quick and efficient. This is typical of American 4-star hotels - at this point it is to be expected. Bathroom had single sink but very roomy walk-in shower. Plenty of towels, and a great hair dryer (a must for me). Toiletries were Apothecary - I travel with my own products, but husband proclaimed that they were very "nice." Waffle robes in the room - one was missing, called housekeeping, had another one within 3 minutes. Nice!

No real noise problem, although I was concerned for others - didn't know if doggie was yapping when we were gone to dinner at Stone Creek Bistro (see separate review), also arranged by Melissa when we requested "a great restaurant." She wasn't joking when she said it was "fabulous" - it really was. Slept like a baby in that wonderful bed. Doggie seemed very happy on the leather sofa. Next day, had breakfast - perfectly cooked, professionally served, with a smile. The pièce de résistance for us, however, was the 6-mile incredibly beautiful walk along the lake - it's a PRIVATE path, only accessible to those with a gate code - and hotel guests are given the code upon demand at the front desk. We were in heaven. Thus, we didn't use the Spa or the exercise facility - we were there to take advantage of nature, so since the weather was gorgeous, we went for that magical walk instead.

All in all, I found the experience at Lake Arrowhead Resort pretty flawless. We will definitely be back; as long as we can have a lakeview room on the third floor, there is absolutely nothing else to desire at this premium, American-style property.

Room Tip: Third floor lake view

Arrived at valet, greeted well and warm welcome. Front desk agent was nice and friendly. Got to our room and noticed "many dogs" at this resort. Seriously felt like we were at a canine convention. I have no problem with families traveling with pets but this was way over done. Watch where you walk!. We did have a sliding door patio and balcony which was nice. But the screen door kept falling off the track so we left it off and propped it against the wall. We were told we would have a mountain view, we faced the parking lot. Room stocked with 1 regular and 1 decaf coffee, no tea. When asked, the FD stated we don't provide that. Room did not have bath wash clothes. Noise from parking lot and neighboring walls and hallway echo loudly through out our room, definitely not a sleep in and rest kind of a stay. For the rate we paid and being a 4 diamond rating, my expectation was high.

The hotel is deleting all the negative reviews on TripAdvisor.

It will not change how bad was my experience in the hotel.

The only thing that worth it was the spa room.

Stay away from this hotel, It's a trap.
