I live in the area and this hotel always looks so inviting. It’s in a busy part of town but always unavailable or costly. I got lucky and for a few dollars more than the Bates motel I stayed in just a few blocks away, I felt like I won the Lottery! There were two desk clerks on duty at 3pm when it was not busy. Myla was friendly and helpful. She explained the pre-authorization policy in detail so I knew what to expect. She also upgraded my room for free.
The room was in the same building as the breakfast room and facing away from the direct sunshine in the afternoon. I never had to use the room a/c. I was also able to see my car from my room window. I have a UV flashlight and I found the room and furnishings to be spotless. 6 pillows in actual linen covers, and the bed was just soft enough for my back and hips. Plenty of fluffy bath towels and shampoo amenities from Spain! Maid service was impeccable. Refrig and freezer looked new. Fabulous array of cable tv channels. Breakfast was basic—could use scrambled eggs and sausage as an improvement. Easy walking distance to new Farmer Boys, Chick Filet and Ricardos Mexican restaurant. The grounds are immaculate. Staff are always smiling and seem happy to work here.
The room location on the 2nd floor was too close to the downstairs generator which runs continuously and was the main source of noise. The room is soundproof but I could still hear the generator. Checkout was a breeze. I plan to return in 3 weeks for another 3-day stay. Highly, highly recommended!
