Wonderful place to stay, good price, nice grounds and quiet. Breakfast was good too, I would recommend a chair on balcony to enjoy the beautiful weather. Great location with lots of restaurants nearby

The Laguna Hills Lodge is a great alternative to pricey places in nearby Laguna Beach. A little older, but very charming and very clean. Extremely comfortable beds! The hotel staff was very friendly and welcoming, and the continental breakfast offered a nice selection of bagels, croissants, etc. along with hard boiled eggs, fresh fruit and yogurt. We will definitely go back.

When my husband and I come for Pageant of the Masters, we always stay here. I've looked at other options but this place always stands out as the most comfortable, convenient and affordable place in the whole Laguna area. Jim at the front desk is always courteous and welcoming. We always get a King Garden View room which has a small balcony, fridge and microwave. The room is nicely decorated, with plantation shutters, an upgraded shower, and sitting area. The grounds are nicely landscaped, giving the lodge a secluded feel even though there is a shopping center just across the street. We'll likely stay here again.

Our room looked over the busy road (from the freeway off ramp) at the front of the hotel, so we asked and were allowed to change, which was very nice of the reception staff. (We looked at 2 other rooms but could not tell the difference between the upgraded and non-upgraded rooms.) Our upstairs room had a window that opened but no balcony, in Building C, which had a lift and overlooked the car park on the opposite side of hotel. A pool, spa, gym and laundry were available on the premises, as well as a selection of continental breakfast choices. Room was cleaned daily and coffee (but not toiletries) refreshed. A car is definitely needed in the area to get to the beaches, Laguna festival events, or Irvine Spectrum Mall, but we found the hotel reasonably priced for high season and central for touring the southern sections of Orange County.

Thank you for your review, and headline "Friendly helpful staff". Yes, we do have a central location for travel in OC ^_^. We are across the street from the Five Lagunas Mall, and a short drive to Laguna Beach and Disneyland. At this time of year the Laguna Arts Festival is very popular with our guests. If you want something other than the generic chain hotel, this place is perfect. The staff are super friendly and accommodating, the rooms are very clean & spacious, the beds are really comfortable and the grounds are pretty and well-maintained. Sure, it's not brand-new, but it's charming! The rates are good for the area, and it's conveniently located for restaurants, shops, and medical facilities. The only slight detraction was the continental breakfast - the room was small and crowded. But clean! We would definitely come back to stay again.
Room tip: rooms facing the gardens are best and there are some with large balconies.

Repeat customer to this great value near Laguna Woods. Clean, comfortable, friendly service. Love this place! Good for families or the lone visitor. Plenty of services and eateries within walking distance.
