“Poor service, deceptive advertising.”

We were enticed by the $14 lobster tail, which was really just some lobster pieces in fettuccine Alfredo. We waited 15 minutes for drink service and even though we had had plenty of time to decide what we wanted the waiter just walked away. Our beer had a bug in the glass we were given & we were pretty much overlooked because we were a couple & not a large group-like the loud obnoxious table behind us. I was looking forward to it but was let down by both food & service. The only redeeming quality was the ocean view patio.

“Good food; great view; friendly service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 7, 2013

We went to C'est La Vie on a Monday night, and even at 7:00 it was not at all crowded. We started with a bowl of french onion soup (very good), and thoroughly enjoyed the rest of our meal, especially my husband's dinner special (salmon stuffed with crab and other seafood -- exquisite). My duck was a tad overcooked, but the flavor was excellent. My husband ordered the phyllo dough dessert, which is dipped in dark chocolate, and filled with a wonderful chocolate mousse and strawberries. A lovely bottle of Macon Vinzelles 2010 Chardonnay was reasonably priced. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful and even offered suggestions for dining elsewhere the next day. He wasn't sure about a recommendation for Italian food, so he asked the rest of the staff -- very nice. The meal was a bit pricey (what good French restaurant isn't?), but worth it. We'll definitely go back the next time we're in Laguna.

“Not worth it.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 2, 2013

We decided to come to the restaurant because it had a view of the ocean. Well that was pretty much the only good thing about it. Service was terrible we were say at a table that had food and the bill still on the table, even though there were at least 5 other tables open in our section. Then after someone finally came over to clean off the table it was another 20 minutes before anyone came to take our drink order. In that time people around us were seated, got there drinks, and bread. Btw we never got bread. One waiter was saying how busy it was so he was comping drinks... We never got that comp. we ordered craps and they were good, but so small it didn't even begin to fill our stomachs. For $9 I expected to be full. Definitely was not. We asked the waiter for our check so we could leave, and it took another 15 minutes then he never came back. we finally got another waiter to take it so we could leave. We stopped at the pizza place down the road to get a slice after this terrible restaurant.

“Good food, nice view”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 23, 2013

This restaurant had a view of the beach and trees. It was very relaxing. We ate a mussel and clam appetizer, seafood pasta, and seafood crepes. It was all very good. The waiter was pleasant and efficient. It was a little pricey for a late lunch, but I guess you pay for the view!

“Something for everyone”

The menu has something for everyone. Back dining area has a view, although it feels a bit squeezed. Good service. No problems with food.
