We stayed here as part of our weekend to see Pageant of the Masters. I will agree with other reviewers that this hotel is pricey. That said, it is worth every penny. Our wonderfully comfortable room faced the ocean and it was magical falling asleep each night to the sound of the waves. The service is impeccable- friendly and courteous. The property is spotless. We ate in their dining room, Splashes, for both dinner and breakfast and found it to be excellent. Service there was very attentive. Our room was 327, which overlooked in the foreground the pool and a small part of the dining area and , past that, the expansive ocean beyond. While we were not distracted at all by the noise level, the only complaint I had is that because people dining could look up directly at our balcony, I couldn't go out on the balcony in my robe. Rooms further down or up would be more accommodating that way. Finally, the only negative I could add is that their reservation system really lags in getting the confirmation email to you. Normally, when we book a room with other hotels, the confirmation shows up almost immediately. This took a few weeks and a couple of phone calls.

Room Tip: If you get a King view room overlooking the pool, know that the majority of your view will be the oc...

This was our 3rd stay at Surf and Sand over the past 8 years. The hotel is expensive but it provides a unique experience if you get a ocean view room. Just open the door to the balcony and listen to the waves hitting the shore. They even give you ear plugs if you want to sleep with the door open. The room we stayed in had no air conditioning so we had to leave the door open. The first night I had to use the ear plugs but got use to the sound by the second night.

The hotel is a little bit of a walk to downtown but it is a nice walk either on the beach or on the road. Lots of small shops and restaurants on the way. There is always a lot of activity down on the main beach. Great place to watch people and see some good volleyball games.

Laguna Beach is a favorite and the Surf and Sand is a great place to stay.

One of the best properties in Southern California. The ocean front rooms are spectacular and offer the best sleep that I have all year when we visit. If this hotel can find a solution to the occasional smoking that can occur on the balconies that would be great!

Gorgeous location in Laguna Beach. Very convenient beach access and access to Laguna Trolley system. Splashes is a great restaurant and has a beautiful sunset view location. Only surprise for us was no air conditioning and the incredibly loud wave break outside of the ocean facing view window. Hotel provided ear plugs with good reason. All-in-all a great visit.

Room Tip: Ocean view comes with a "noise" price. The view was gorgeous but noise of waves was signif...

Having read past reviews, and driven by the Surf and Sand Resort times in the past (we are local Los Angeles travelers), we thought this Hotel might be perfect for a two day getaway in advance of the 4th of July Holiday weekend. We were traveling with our children, ages 7 and 3, and so we booked the "Family Package" in a "Seaview-Deluxe Room." First, the "Family Package" claimed to offer the children a welcome amenity of cookies and milk upon arrival and this didn't happen. And while the cookies and milk were delivered the next day with housekeeping, it was not the same experience. Also, the children were to be offered "snores and s'mores" (a Reservations Assistant had even asked for our children's names) and so we had been looking forward to this personalized amenity only to have it not delivered either. Even after a call to the Front Desk, and assurances that this amenity would be presented at turndown, nothing. The only aspect of the "Family Package" that was delivered was the daily food/beverage credit, a value to my wife and I, but little consolation to our children. And while the Front Desk did make an extra "credit" accomodation to our bill at checkout, the damage was already done. Second, there was nothing "deluxe" about our room, in fact I would argue any room 312-318 (directly on top of the pool) in the Seaview tower would hardly constitute "Deluxe." If you desire any semblance of privacy, I recommend not getting rooms 312-318, even if you have kids, and enjoy the pool. Bottom line, this is not really a "family friendly" hotel....they try but really not very hard, and at these prices, not up to expectations.

Room Tip: rooms 312-318 of the Seaview tower are directly on top of the pool and offer little view of the ocea...

Actually lying in bed at the "resort" as I write this. Property is beautifully situated, but very confusing. Rooms are nice but. NO AIRCONDITIONING! Only ocean breezes which are okey AFTER sunset. Seems they can't decide if they are a family resort, (lots of loud children) or a wedding/honeymoon venue, or fine dining or??? Right now our nice (warm) room is comfortable but because of the VERY LOUD MOVIE being shown at the pool below we have to close the doors, no cool breeze, no ocean sounds, just King Kong! blaring away at 9:25 pm. After flying out, and adjusting to the time change we'd appreciate quiet. On a positive note drinks down in the bar were nice, as was the cheese tray and shrimp cocktails. The bar is small, loud but festive and right on the beach, so pleasant and fun. Front staff and bell men very courteous and efficient.

Room Tip: Depends on your reason for being here. Typically ocean front would be choice but iurs very loud ove...

Great Hotel, and as long as you are not unfortunate to get a heat wave you will love this Hotel.
Spectacular view and complimentary Laguna Beach shuttle service can take you just about anywhere.

(hotel has no A/C but fans and cross breeze were more than sufficient.)

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for the 9th floor center room 2904 in building 2 Great view open room and balcone...
