on arrival we were given a lower floor room with flimsy windows and a ladder to the side walk so went back to reception as we didn't feel safe. they immediately upgraded us to a higher floor near the pool with balcony part sea view and same floor as breakfast. much much better. we stayed a second night as we loved laguna and received a managers special rate which was loads cheaper than our first night so really pleased with that. went whale watching at dana point saw 7 blue whales.

Room Tip: Ask for floor 3 with balcony.

We had a very good experience at this Best Western. The staff was very nice and accomodating. The rooms were clean and spacious. The beds were also very comfortable. It was a great location and I would recommend this hotel.

The Best Western Plus in Laguna is a good hotel in a great town. The basic rooms are a bit small and poky and the suites are better though not outstanding even though many have a nice porch with views over to the ocean. The hotel is fairly well positioned within walking distance to the beach and shopping areas but overall is a bit overpriced for what you receive. Having said that the quirkiness and natural beauty of the town more than make up for the standard of the hotel and should have you enjoying your stay at The Best Western regardless of the hotel's shortcomings. Breakfast was good and the roof top deck is a great place to sunbake through the day and enjoy a cocktail while the sun sets over the sea though the pool is small and outdated. All up The Best Western Plus Laguna Brisas Spa Hotel is a three star hotel with a four star price tag.

Room Tip: The front suites with spa bath and a sea view are the pick of the rooms.

Thank you for staying with us on your holiday and remembering us from your visit in May. And we agree - the rooftop is the perfect place to toast the day and welcome in the evenings during sunset. Thank you, too, for the mention of "suites" however we do not advertise as such as all rooms are one room only and not a traditional multi-room suite.

First let me say that if you are going to be traveling on Hiway 1 up the coast, you are going to be paying more for an overnight stay than if you stay at an equivalent place inland.

So where do you stay in Laguna Beach? We hadn't booked before we got there so it was a tough decision. We sort of arbitrarily chose this place, and it was a good descision since our stay was quite enjoyable.

Don't be fooled by the Hwy 1 frontage. This place is bigger than it looks. It goes way back into a labyrinth-like system of corridors. Very different design than most motels. Most of the rooms do not face traffic, so we found it quiet. We said we were light sleepers and got a very quiet room.

The pool and terrace overlooking Hwy 1 and the ocean are quite a nice surprise. Yes, the place is older but still nicely maintained. The room was fine and the room A/C about average for noise for this class of motel. We are not fussy about breakfast so found it OK. Access to the beach is not a problem. And oh, the room had a spa, which we didn't use, but it made taking a shower a little harder.

And finally - Underground free parking onsite! Wow.

Room Tip: I'm guessing that room 431-A would be the quietest. You could check it out before you book.

Thank you for your suggestions and comments. While our pool area does not overlook the ocean, room 431 does overlook the pool and there is a slight view of the ocean over the rooftop from 431's balcony. This room is often requested from our returning guests.

To avoid any possible challenges in the combo shower/spatub, we would suggest a room in the front building as these trooms have their spa tubs separate in the bedrrom area from the regular shower/tub in the bathroom. Thank you again!

I was in town for a horrible medical procedure. I had come back to the Best Western Laguna Brisas Spa from staying there before. I had an amazing time the first time and the second. They saw how sick I was in the car and got the elevator so I didn't have to wait for it before I even got into the lobby. Thank you sooo much. This place is amazing. They have a giant tub, clean rooms, soft beds, a huge full breakfast!

We hope you are feeling much better, Maria! When I saw you getting out of the car, I could tell you needed to get to your room as quickly as possible and just pushed the elevator button without even thinking about it. "Stay with people wo care." That's the Best Western way! We look forward to yuor return under better circumstances....

Centrally located in town. Close to most things, including the beach just across the street. Limited services. Pretty small. Actually, the view is from the roof-top terrace. (Anything else doesn't really count as a view.) Terrace is a GREAT amenity to sit and have a drink/snack (of your own provision) or visit and watch the day or night. GREAT sunsets!

Thank you for your comments and your visit. The sunsets can be VERY spectacular as you know. As far as the "view" rooms, we have many locations of rooms offering varyng amounts of actual view: little or no, partial, etc. We are NOT however, located on the beach and their are buildings between us in and the ocean so we will never sugest full ocean views.

Well located, near beach access, Splashes and other restaurants and shops. Clean, although slightly dated décor. Very nice staff. nice roof deck to enjoy the water view and breakfast. Nice pool. Would prefer they remodel the bathroom and take out the whirl pool type tubs/shower. Rather hard to get in and out of. Rooms are quiet if you don't face the street.

Thank you for taking the time to write your wonderful review! We might suggest a 3rd floor premium room next time as they will have the whirlpool spa in the bedroom separate from the regular tub/shower and are al;so located higher above any street noise one might incur below.
We hope to see you again soon!
