Pleasantly surprised and would highly recommend. The rooms were updated, the complimentary breakfast was good and the location was great. If looking for a room with 2 beds I would highly recommend asking for the 4th floor. This way you get to sit on the balcony at night and enjoy the ocean sounds. It was literally right across from the beach. Another great perk was the free parking and the free trolley that runs June-Aug. The trolley stops were right near the hotel and came in handy. Would stay there again.

Room Tip: Ask for 4th floor facing the beach. You get access to the large patio.

I originally booked this hotel for one night for an overnight stay for my daughter and me. Upon check in we were greeted by Rene. He was very professional and great personality. Turned out our room had been upgraded to the 4th floor. What a pleasant surprise!

Within 2 hours of check in we found out how fabulous this hotel really was. In a bizarre chain of events I broke my leg while at the beach, which is right across the street from the hotel (and it is a beautiful section of beach too). After leaving the ER we went back to the hotel to see if we could stay one more night. The lady at the front desk wasn't sure as they were booked up, but early the next morning we got a call that yes we could stay. Yippee!!!

Our room was terrific. Quite large, spa tub with bath salts in the room, and a view of the ocean from the window. The bed was very comfortable and I should know as I had to remain in it for such a long time. There was a roof top deck right out our door and I got to see the sunset from there. Gorgeous.
The pool is small but nice, well kept and clean, lots of lounge chairs and a hot tub. There are many tables and chairs as well so it is easy to take your breakfast, or whatever meal, out to the tables and enjoy the fresh air.
At night we turned off our air conditioner and just opened up the windows, we got to listen to the water and late at night the traffic was minimal to none. Even for being a hotel that was full we could not hear any noise, we know that people were out on the sun deck because we saw them walk by but our room was so quiet that it didn't matter.
The property is well taken care of and clean, every morning I watched as the caretakers went around wiping down the tables and chairs and swept and mopped the decks.
There is plenty of parking under the hotel.
The breakfast provided had lots of various things to choose from so there is certain to be something for everyone.

Because I couldn't travel my daughter found that just a few blocks down the street was a grocery store so she walked down and stocked up on snacks and meals for us there.
We did not get the name of the young man that was working the night shift but he went out of his way to help us by providing various items that were needed for my comfort, extra pillows, towels, etc. And his help was much appreciated.
The wireless internet worked flawlessly, and there were plenty of television channels to watch on tv. Normally when one stays at a hotel they don't really "stay" in the hotel, but I can tell you that this place was still a perfect get away for us even though I couldn't go anywhere.
My daughter was so impressed with this place that she can't wait to go back again, but next time to spend more time actually AT the beach.
And when we do get to go back we will absolutely be staying here.

I stayed here for 3 night with 5 friends. We had 2 rooms on the 1st floor. We arrived quite late after a long day of travelling from Monterey. The reception staff were helpful and we were able to park easily. The rooms were huge with a spa bath actually in the room. Oddly, the wash basin was also in the room while the bath/shower and toilet were in the ensuite. The beds were really comfy. The pool is quite small but perfect for cooling down after sunbathing on the roof terrace. You can see the sea from the roof terrace. The only niggles were that the air con is quite noisy, but you can't leve the doors open because the noise from the street in the morning is too load. Breakfast is the standard Best western set up - nothing 'plus' about it. The location is great, just over the road from the sea, next door to a great steak restaurant (Mozambique) and a short walk to a great roof top bar (perfect at sun set). Would recommend.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experiences of our hotel and Laguna Beach; definitely a place for "relaxing"! We will definitely ask our engineering department to check out the AC's on the first floor. They should not be noisy but often do provide a nice "white noise" to calm any outside sounds. Please visit again soon!

I stayed at least half a dozen times at the Holiday Inn in Laguna Beach and really liked it. However, recently when I have tried booking, their rates are ridiculously high for what it is.

Last time I went, I found this property. It's further out of the downtown than I prefer, but it's not bad at all. I mean, the beach is across the street, and it's a nice walk toward downtown.

We had a deluxe room with a partial view of the ocean (very partial!). It's on the PCH and the cars are noisy so be warned. There was a big hot tub, and the room is spacious. The rooftop deck is very nice: we didn't know it existed until the second day of being there.

It's across from the Surf and Sand, which is very expensive. Be sure to go there for cocktails, though. It's right on the beach.

Room Tip: The cheapest rooms basically have no windows: they look onto the hallway. The better rooms with part...

My boyfriend & I stayed here for 3the nights & it was great! Our room was huge, had a jacuzzi tub, was sparkling clean & was within walking distance to downtown Laguna. The beach was directly across the street. We would definitely stay again!

My wife and I had stayed at more expensive hotels when visiting Laguna in the past. This year, we wanted to spend more money on food and entertainment, as we aren’t in the room very much anyway. We had seen this hotel from the road before and reviews were as good as they could be for the very inexpensive fare. The room was comfortable and we asked for a room in back as some had noted that this was better for noise. As usual, we did not spend much time in the room, but the roof terrace was comfortable and, with a good view, offered a place for quiet reading. The beach is so close that it is no big deal to go for a walk along the water. The location is also fine for shopping, and visiting local galleries and dining spots. There is free in and out covered parking and the free breakfast is okay for what it is. It was a great choice for us.

Room Tip: Stay in the back, PCH can be pretty noisy

Sounds like you've got the right idea! there really is no need to spend the extra money for the services you don't really need especially when you are not in your room that often anyway. And with the additional savings due to the free, covered parking space, the free hot breakfast, free wi-fi and NO resort fees, you can use that savings to buy yourself a little something extra special. Thank you for staying wit us and hurry back soon!
