We arrived at La Casa del Camino around 2:30pm, check-in time is 3:00. The staff was more than happy to accommodate us earlier than expected, and even brought our bags to our room for us. The Front desk checked us in, after offering us a couple bottles of cold water, and explained the amentities of the hotel, including the rooftop Lounge with amazing views of Laguna. The hotel also has k'ya Restaurant and bar, which offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner, very convenient for the busy traveler.
After checking in and enjoying the beautiful ambience in the lobby with the candles and fresh flowers everywhere you look, we took the elevator to the 3rd floor, where we settled into our beautiful full ocean view room. After a long day of traveling, seeing a lush king sized bed caused us to want to postpone our afternoon plans for a nap. So we opened the windows and sank into the bed as the waves crashing in the ocean literally sang us to sleep.
After our naps and freshening up, we journeyed up to the rooftop lounge where the sun was about 30 mins from setting, just in time for a drink and appetizer before watching the sunset. We couldn't believe the rooftop lounge and the breathtaking views of laguna beach, Beauty like I'd never seen. The appetizers were wonderful, the service again was impeccable.
After Having appetizers and drinks on the rooftop, we took a walk downtown and enjoyed the people and atmosphere.
When we returned to la casa, the staff greeted us with smiles and inquired if we needed anything else before turning in for the night.
The next morning we enjoyed eating breakfast at k'ya and reading the newspaper, a leisurely sunday morning with coffee and an amazing array of breakfast selections.
After breakfast, we decided to spend a few hours at the beach and because check-out time is 11:30, the front desk offered to hold our luggage while we enjoyed the beach. We took advantage of the complimentary beach towel/beach chair service, how convenient.
All in all, a relaxing, needed getaway to la Casa del Camino, I can't wait for my next visit to laguna beach, I feel that I have found my home away from home.

Casa del Camino is the Jurassic Park of Hotels. That doesn't make it all bad, but you want to explore other options before booking it. On the plus side is location: you can walk out your door and be on the beach in 3-4 minutes, and if you are a morning beach walker as I am, that is worth a great deal.

And my room had an ocean view: another great plus, and I could see waves breaking from my window. I'll pay a bit for that.

But isn't it time they painted the rooms, added some furniture that did not look like flea market cast offs, rolled in a carpet that didn't look like it had spent a month in the rain, and put light bulbs in the lamps that you could read by?

And I found the staff a bit nonchalant. Not unfriendly, just blase, and the weekend is a rather boisterous party in the lobby and roof garden. Casa del Camino could be a good place still if someone took it over and cared for it, but it gave the impression of mustiness parading as charm. Not again thank you.

The hotel has a great location near the center of town and steps from
the beach. And the rooftop bar is one of the best spots in the area to enjoy the sunset. The rooms though are a bit overpriced. We had a superior view queen room and paid $169 for a Tuesday night. The room was comfortable and had a partial ocean view, but it was quite small.
If you dont mind the size of the rooms, it's a charming place. And the staff were all very friendly.

We stayed at the Casa del Camino and had the best room which was very nice, not much space for hanging clothes though. The room was very clean and a good size. There was no breakfast included (which it said there was) but a complementary cup of coffee! It is definitely not worth the price that they charge.

The main downside were the reception staff who seemed young and not very knowledgeable about their hotel.

The other problem is that the hotel has a restaurant and bar which stays open till late which can be quite disruptive if you want to sleep! The location is lovely however I would not want to stay here for a 2 week holiday! The price in the restaurant & bar is quite a lot more than you pay elsewhere in town.

Great location one block from beach with lots of restaurants and shops in walking distance. No pool. Built in 1927, it's like stepping into days gone by. Very clean room with very comfy, firm bed. Avoid the economy room unless you really want to save money and don't plan to be in the room except to sleep and change clothes. It's for one person and very, very small with one tiny window allowing little sunlight. The bigger rooms are better and have nice windows, hard-wood floors, and a style reminiscent of the 1930s and '40s.

It's cheaper than other hotels in area, but it's not for those who like modern-day hotels with lots of amenities and an up-to-date feel. Hint: Walk one block to Brooks Street to get to the beach, because it has far fewer stairs to the beach than does Cress Street.

We really enjoy the “homey” feeling during our stay at this hotel. Although the rooms are not large, it is cozy, clean and warm. The view from our room (Deluxe Room) and the guest service from the front desk were great and we also enjoyed the history of this hotel. If you are looking for a 5 star fancy hotel, then this may not be a suitable hotel for you. Dining at the on-site restaurant (K’ya) is a must, great food!!! You might want to inquire about parking before arriving. The bar service at the roof top needs improvement.

The hotel is dated in all aspects. The staff is very freindly and helpful however. The rooms are more than dated and small. We felt like Bela Lugosi would step out of the walls at any second. They allow dogs which why we stayed there. A bit on the pricy side for room service. Two hamburgers cost $ 39.00 plus tip. We order two meat patties for the dogs and where chagred $ 20.00. The proof in the pudding is would we stay there again and the answer is no chance. There is access to the beach which down a flight of stairs at the end of the street. The beach is so so. Too far to walk to downtown Laguna unless you love walking a couple of miles.
Alot of hidden charges where tack on the bill. I don't know, some may enjoy the old place but it is old and tired and has seen better days.
