I chose this place based on the reviews and it did not disappoint. If you're looking for a ritzy hotel then this isn't for you. But if you're looking for a cozy, beautiful place with a lot of character, this is for you. The room was small but it was clean and I really liked the way it was decorated. The staff is very nice and accommodating. It's only a couple of steps to the beach which was cool. The rooftop lounge is a big plus too. I'll definitely be back to visit. Thanks for a great stay!

Just got back from a long weekend and the word we keep using to describe our stay at La Casa is....FUN. We had a blast staying at this unique hotel in Laguna beach. The location, view, our surf themed room, rooftop bar, excellent restaurant and great staff will bring us back again.
Breakfast (delicious) up on the rooftop, with fantastic views of the ocean and great Bloody Mary's started each day. We would return to the rooftop each nite before we headed out for excellent Mohitos. The food at both the bar upstairs (appetizers) and for dinner at K'ya (small plates) is excellent. K'ya - diverse menu of tapas style food - really stellar! Our room - Billabong - was cool and quirky- surfboard on wall, unique art and bathroom, comfy bed. Friendly, SoCal beach vibe throughout hotel, from staff to management. Loved it!

Room Tip: Look at the surf themed rooms online. Rooms are not huge but each has very different style and decor

La Casa isn't your big box kind of Hotel. It is intimate and odd offering most amenities but some only at the asking. Celebrating 80 + years it has been updated as best as the structure permits. The rooms aren't large but rather "continental" and antique furnished in the rustic SoCal nature.
Staff is friendly and helpful meeting all requests with a smile.

Short walk down the steps to a picturesque beach. Town center is a 10 minute walk.

The attached K'ya is an eclectic jewel for dining and the bar is vibrant with locals and guests alike. The rooftop dining area offers great vistas.

Room Tip: Ask for the back hall on the second floor to avoid the lobby noise.

My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary and loved it. There was a little bit of confusion about what type of room we paid for because they had been renovating rooms and their website wasn't matching what we booked. However, we were taken care of by their employees and put in the proper room. Once there, it was great! The bed was incredibly comfortable, the bathroom is nice, etc.

There are some things you should know about this place:
1. The parking is across the street (not a big deal at all and we only had trouble finding a spot once, but parked for free in the nearby residential area).
2. The front of the hotel is a very popular restaurant and the rooftop is a popular bar. It seems noisy at first, but it was really quiet around 10pm or so.
3. It's not your typical big American hotel. It is a gorgeous old building with tons of character and charm. The bathroom wasn't huge, the room was not massive and the only downside for us was the lack of furniture to put our clothes. We had to stack them up on the floor, although we fit some stuff on the clothes rack. The other rooms may have been different though so check them out.
4. The only thing between you and the beach are a house or two. The beach is only steps away and you can borrow umbrellas, chairs or towels.
The breakfast was good too!

You can't beat the location, view, or vintage hotel charm of La Casa del Camino. However, our room was incredibly tiny, and very uncomfortable. Our bed was small and rickety. The bathroom was small with no tub. For a hotel on the beach, not having a removable shower head made it impossible to wash the sand out of our shower! We had a room facing the main road, so I'm assuming that the ocean-side of the hotel is probably much nicer. Also, the hotel staff seems much more concerned with running the rooftop bar than they are about their hotel. We got stopped constantly and warned about the "long wait at the bar" when we were simply just trying to go back to our room. The rooftop bar has a stunning view, but as would be expected, is always crowded. The location was the best part of our stay. Walking distance to food, coffee, and delicious pastries just down the street to the right! There is also the most amazing nursery just a block or so down the road. But most importantly, it is STEPS to the beach. Literally, steps. My best friend and I spent our entire trip on the beach. We even took dessert there and listened to the waves in the middle of the night. The hotel staff will give you beach chairs, towels, and large umbrellas for free, which I thought was a very nice touch. In a nutshell, make sure you spend the extra cash on a nice room if you want to stay here. For what we paid, the room was pretty bad.

Room Tip: Spend the extra cash to get one of the nicer, more recently remodeled ocean-view rooms, otherwise do...

Dear Chelsea P,

Your review is very much appreciated. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay, and that you were able to take full advantage of our great location. I love that you took your dessert down to the beach at night to listen to the full power of the crashing waves ~ that's one of my personal favorite things to do as well!
Your suggestions have been noted for internal review. We thank you for your candid comments and look forward to hosting you again, next time you visit Laguna Beach (in one of our surf suites!)

Warmest Regards,

A really unique property, with the unique atmosphere (and quirkyness) of a heritage hotel. The surf-themed rooms are really neat. Bedding and pillows were great. All facilities worked fine (air-con, shower, good water pressure). Found it to be very quiet and had a good sleep both nights (and I am a poor sleeper). Location is super -- can walk everywhere -- don't need the car at all. Roof top bar is a must -- go for happy hour. The restaurant off the lobby is also excellent. Staff was very friendly and helpful and made our visit special. This place has atmosphere and charm which makes it special. It is not your "Holiday Inn at the airport" type place, which means there are compromises (parking is not adjacent to the building, it is an old building so it doesn't have that "brand-newness" which some people like), but that is part of it's charm to us.)

Room Tip: Get one of the surf themed rooms -- nice architectural details and materials that you don't see...

My husband and I stayed here for my birthday weekend. We loved our renovated room. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was great. Free parking is an added bonus. The rooftop can't be beat for the view and for the mojitos. We had wonderful service and everyone was very friendly. We ate lunch on the rooftop and loved it. We enjoyed our dinner at K'ya, but thought it was terribly loud. We would definitely return and request the same room. (Queen partial view) We were not disappointed at all!
