My husband and I live about a half hour away but we go to Madison Square about once a month for breakfast/lunch on the weekend. It is a pretty casual place. We love it because it is in a garden setting and we can bring our dog with us to eat and then walk across PCH to the gazebo and to the beach. First of all, you go inside to wait in line and order your food. I always get the same thing, the Turkey Club Sandwich on Wheat w/ fries and a Coffee (They use avocado and real turkey, not the processed sandwich meat. It's so good and my dog agrees, she sits up and begs the whole time I'm eating it). My husband gets a Burger w/ fries of some sort. We are creatures of habit, but the other menu items look really good too! My only complaint is sometimes the fries aren't hot enough. They're really good when you get them all fresh. Often the owner or manager (I'm not sure exactly who he is but he seems to be the owner) comes around to chat with the customers and to give the dogs treats. He's really friendly. He takes pictures of tourists or families eating together and is always very cheerful. Inside the small building where you order your food, they sell unique and attractive interior home stuff but it's really expensive! Also the stuff in the garen is for sale. You're surrounded by lots of beautiful fountains and statues. Remember to bring quarters for parking. If you parallel park up the street from the restaurant and are willing to go for a quick downhill walk, you can park for free.
