“Wonderful hospitality by the winemaker and a wonderful Chardonnay!”
Reviewed November 16, 2011

Took a lazy drive up Laguna Canyon Road and was treated to a very informative tasting by Marlowe, the owner and winemaker. We were looking for a memorable bottle of wine to enjoy a sunset. Marlowe led us through the tasting with suggestions and suggestions. We picked the 2008 Los Carneros Chardonnay, which was a perfect (and romantic) nightcap to savor the evening. Thx M!! Well worth the short trip up the canyon!

“There are Much Better Wines: Save Your Money”
Reviewed November 14, 2011

As to be expected with any winery that is not located within any reasonable distance from a wine growing region, the Laguna Canyon Winery is not much more than a tourist trap. It plays on California’s reputation for great wines by drawing in Laguna Beach visitors. They charge a $2 fee for each tasting, unless you buy a bottle, and they have no hesitation in pushing sales on those that come in the door.

Overall, their wines are highly overpriced. Their red varietals tend to be unbalanced and overpowering, and their blended reds simply intermix these shortcomings. Their Chardonnay was a bit nicer with some nice buttery flavors, but again, they failed to provide complexity to the experience. One should expect to pay about $20 to $30 more per bottle than what this wine is worth. The extra cost is presumably for the privilege of owning an “exclusive” Laguna Beach label on a mediocre bottle of wine.

Hello Trip Advisor users,

We appreciate all who take the time to post your comments.

Laguna Canyon Winery would like to thank all our customers who enjoy our boutique wines.

Everyone's palette can differ although among wine judges from major wine competitions and well respected wine critics, our wines have scored very well.

We currently have distribution internationally and throughout the U.S.

With over 700 wine club members nationwide our wine club base continues to grow.

We consistently source high quality fruit from premium vineyards in the Napa and Sonoma regions to process here at the winery.

Every year we continue to be awarded medals from the Orange County Fair which is one of the largest California wine competition in the world with 2,000 to 4,000 entries each year.

We look forward to continue to produce handcrafted California wines for all our customers to enjoy at both our tasting rooms and across the U.S.

Sincerely,
Marlowe Joseph Huber

“Great Wine Find!”
Reviewed August 24, 2011

We ventured down SR 133 to the main winery and enjoyed a wonderful tasting of reds and whites. The Chardonnay and Pinot Gris were especially impressive among the whites we tasted and among the reds, the 2007 Meritage (rhymes with heritage), the 2008 Pinot Noir and the 2006 Cabernet Savignon warranted purchasing multiple bottles of each. The 2006 Cab is just coming of age and probably has a 10 year shelf life going forward. If you like good wines then you really owe it to yourself to visit the winery or their tasting room on Glenneyre Street. You will not be disappointed!

“Home town WInery”
Reviewed July 3, 2010

I was told about this place by my sister Cindy. It in a nice litte respite from the OC hustle. Do not be put off by the outside appearance in a small industrial strip. The yasting room is nice cool full of dark woods a real respite from the bright summmer heat of the canyon.

Marlowe is a good winemaer. I have been a member for years now buying about a case and a half per year. the wines are in general a sold Napa style for the most part with good fruit concentration and balanced tannis which make for good legs. The best wines IMHO are the old vine zinfandels which are well balanced and good to drink young to 8 years (my 2004s are at thier peak now, The Sauvingion Blanc are also very good , like on the wood.

The winery dinners are fantastic and the monthly tasing parties are quite fun. We do 3 or 4 a year.

“Great little winery close to Laguna Beach!”
Reviewed November 3, 2009

My husband and I were staying in Laguna Beach at the Casa Laguna (another excellent place to checkout!). We wanted to do some wine tasting while we were in CA but didn't want to drive far. Casa Laguna recommended this little gem. It was a refreshing way to spend the afternoon, and we bought a bottle for the evening. I will definitely be purchasing more wine from them in the future! We really loved the Chardonnay that we purchased.
