We attend the art shows and Pageant of the Masters every year, and we've stayed at this hotel for about 10 years now. Formerly America's Best Inn, the current owners have gathered a funky, eclectic, sometimes strange mix of art both inside the rooms and around the hotel, but it fits the area. Staff is always friendly and attentive, rooms are clean. We stay in 210, I think it is, with a small balcony where we can see a glimpse of the ocean.
What we LOVE is the location! We're not paying an arm and a leg for the prime beach properties (all the more to spend at the art shows), but it is just across the street from the northernmost stop for the free summer festival trams. We park our car in the underground lot when we arrive and would never have to get it out again until we leave. Just a walk across PCH and we're at the tram stop!
They have done away with the continental breakfast, but that's okay. Rooms have a small fridge so we grab stuff at the convenience store across the street.
Bonus tip: There is a small Chinese restaurant across PCH and down a block or two - very unassuming. Somehow we missed it for 9 years and just found it this year. It was amazing!
