This is a nice place to dine right by the beach, good menu and wine list (though rather short), reasonably priced (for Laguna), and friendly and efficient service. Be sure to make reservations in advance, and good luck with even that, as the place is packed during the dinner hours and the summer vacation season. Large umbrellas for the sun (but have to be folded up if it gets too windy), and plenty of outdoor patio heaters for the evening chill. The place has kind of a "hip" vibe to it, a place to see and be seen, but not intimidating if you are not one of the "pretty people!"

Restaurant changed owners and the food no longer comes from the hotel restaurant. So, they're in the process of making their own kitchen. VERY small menu (5 main meal items... Pork sandwich, with cole slaw and chips.. everything else was small... pretty much fast food like since they couldn't cook. I'm assuming they have a fridge and a microwave) Ordered guac/chips and half of it was hard and not mashed up (on purpose). We ate here twice on our stay.. The only thing it has going for it right now are the great drinks (great long island iced tea) and the view. That's all I'd come here for until they get the kitchen done, which we were told would be late August 2013. Service was always good.

We had a beautiful dinner here. Sat right on the edge of the deck with dinner theater of surfers all night. We had 3 apps for dinner - all were great: guac, salmon and tuna poke. Service was lovely. Views were picture perfect.

Just stopped in after getting settled in our room for a quick drink and snack... planned the rest of our afternoon at the small table by the beach. The service is a little slow because this place is small and jammed packed! Be considerate of your server and be patient- its the beach!

The Deck was closed for a few weeks, apparently because of a change of ownership. Maybe they should have spent another week closed and been fully ready to reopen.
We ate dinner there last night for a friend's birthday. Wait was fairly long but that is to be expected in Laguna in summer, however there was almost nowhere to wait. Very small bar was full. We wandered into an inside area which was obviously unfinished and found a tiny table. Had to search for a waitress who proved inattentive at best. She gave us a menu and then disappeared. Finally searched her down and ordered drinks after a considerable wait. She pointed to a table on the patio which was clearing and said it would be ours. Then we watched as three women walked in and were immediately seated at "our" table. We searched someone else down and they explained that the waitress wanted us seated at her service area. What? They did handle this correctly because they gave us a better seat by the water. Next up is the menu which was extremely limited. Our friend had looked the menu up online and noticed it had only 6 or so dinner options and had called the restaurant. They'd told her that the online version didn't show all the menu. Oh, yes it did. Two of us ordered a crab+ shrimp Louie for $19. The other got a crab sandwich. The crab in each was mushed up with mayo etc and tasted like something they bought in a pre-made vat. When we asked about the menu we were told that a NEW menu was being created. Not fast enough! Finally, we asked for a dessert menu because it was one friend's birthday. No dessert. Sorry. Food:Blehhh. Service(at least in our case): Yuck. View: Beautiful. We MIGHT try it one more time once there is a new menu. Am sure it was opened again too soon to take advantage of the summer tourist rush. We walked down the street to K'ya where we had a fantastic waitress and an excellent dessert. I'd go elsewhere for dinner in Laguna and then, maybe, this place for a drink and the view.
