Went tide pooling here with our daughter. So pretty and serene. Lots of space and places to hike. $15 parking. 10 minute walk from lot down to the beach. Bring river sandals if you have them because they'd be easier to walk in that regular flip-flops.

We came here to walk the beach, dip our toes in the Pacific and have lunch. It was a fabulously sunny day, the beach is wide, had tide pools to explore, interesting rocks, warm, fine sand. Sea anemones in the tide pool would gently close on your toe (or finger), small fish also around the rocks. We saw mostly families with children there. We also saw a park ranger giving a "live feed" to a camera that was broadcasting to children's classrooms throughout the state. Along the beach there are restored and some waiting to be restored cottages that can be rented. Very charming looking, at least from the outside. Then they have a little museum and restored village, this was a very popular destination for folks from the 40's through the 70's, then apparently went into disrepair until the recent restoration project, which is ongoing. Would highly recommend a visit here. If you eat at the restaurant, the parking fee of $15 is waived.

All what you expect from a nice beach, and the water appears to me much better here than further North in Huntington Beach for example...

Crystal Cove is full of raw beauty and worth visiting just for that, but when you learn about the history of the Cove, it really comes alive. It's like stepping back in time when the cottages along the beach were built and lived in by tenant farmer's on John Irvine's land. The fact that Crystal Cove is largely untouched by high end, private development is almost a miracle as well as a testament to the resolve of John Irvine to keep the area undeveloped and available to the average Joe. There is a parking fee, I think, but we were able to take a shuttle from the resort.

the beach is more of a beach to walk. Or if you want some quiet time to relax lay out and read. We did not see a lot of children on this beach.
