“Not bad but not superlative”
Reviewed August 15, 2013

Ambiance of this small Italian restaurant is very good and the wait staff was very friendly and helpful. Fresh bread was light and airy. Food was okay to good, but not "very good." I had Chicken Jerusalem and it had more flavor than the Prawn special in Gorgonzola cream sauce.

“If you want an excellent meal, amazing service ,in a casual atmosphere, this the place. is”
Reviewed June 9, 2013

We were invited here by friends who not only live in Lafayette, but who owned a successful restaurant for over 30 years. We knew we were in for a treat. We were not disappointed. We were in fact dully impressed. Tony, our waiter is the example wait people want to be. He was friendly, attentive, and knew how to be part of our evening meal without taking the focus away from friends and fine food and wine. There is an extensive Italian menu, daily specials, and a wine list to make even the most picky happy. Desserts are just a tempting, and delightful as the meals.
Come relax, converse ,drink some wine, and enjoy the event of dining as it is supposed to be.

“Never again”
Reviewed May 13, 2013

It's been two years since we dined at La Finestra. The food had no resemblance to Italian and certainly not Sicilano. We stayed in Sicilia more than a week and even the worst restaurant in Palermo (Bufala) was better than this one. Sauces way too creamy and the dishes overcooked. It might have improved over the last two years but we very much doubt that it will improve enough for another visit.

“Now This Is GOOD!!”
Reviewed May 12, 2013

Four foodies went for dinner on Tuesday (free corkage on Tues) and I was blown away by their excellent food. The Malfatti appetizer is a Spinach and Ricotta Dumplings in a Sicilian Pesto Sauce, with Roasted Almonds and it was delicious...I never had that before. The Cesare salad was crisp and very tasty...they have an excellent dressing. For the entree, I enjoyed their Lasagna special...Oven Baked Lasagna With Ground Beef, Ground Italian Sausage, Ricotta
Cheese, Topped With Provolone Cheese and Served Over Light Cream
Marinara Sauce...a wonderful daily special. This place is sooooo good, we will make it a point to come here for dinner EVERY TIME we are n the Moraga area visiting our friends. Go! Mangia!!!

“Tucked away in Lafayette”
Reviewed April 7, 2013

We've been coming to La Finestra for years. Tony the waiter is the man! This guy really hustles, and has a very big personality. He's exuberant and enthusiastic. The kitchen can be slow at times. The restaurant offers a full selection of wines and liquor, with a smaller selection of beer. They just added another dining room that is tastefully decorated. If you're looking for a great local Italian dining experience in Lamorinda, this is your best bet!
