“Excellent hotel, off the beaten path!”
Reviewed May 21, 2013

I came across this hotel using jetsetter and was very pleased at what I received. I upgraded our room to the Premium King, and was placed on the 3rd floor facing the street. I was a bit worried that there would be excessive street noise, but the double pane glass made the room pefectly quiet. We actually slept with the windows open (yes, you can actually open the windows in this hotel... what a novelty!) and the street noise wasn't that bad. Yes, its close to the freeway, so you can hear trucks driving, but if you're a "city" person who needs white noise, its actually soothing to hear the stream of cars going by.

The room was comfortable, fairly large, and had everything we needed. I think I'd ask for a courtyard view next time. For the fitness rats, the workout room is small. A few cardio machines, and pretty much that's it.

The location is about an hour to Napa, and a little over an hour to the Jelly Belly factory. Very close to Berkeley and Oakland. The town of Lafayette is about 2 minutes by car, and there's a Whole Foods market, and plenty of fast food like McD's, Jack, etc... even a Starbucks!

Grab an apple at the reception.. its delicious! Self parking available in the garage below.

Room Tip: The third floor rooms were very nice, and worth upgrading.

Stayed for a girls' weekend and saw many pros and a few cons.

Pros:
Very large room
Coffee in the lobby
Lovely courtyard
Nice pool area ( cozy and quaint)
Great food in the bistro

Cons:
Worn tired decor
No refrigerator
Clogged bathroom drain
Poor water pressure in shower

We got a great price on Hotwire and enjoyed trying this hotel. The location allows you to be close to shopping ,but not walking distance to anything. It is like a boutique hotel...small lobby..restaurant in a separate building, antique-type furniture, etc. Great for those who enjoy these types of properties. Not for those who like modern furnishings or expansive lobby areas. We felt the food in the bistro was very good and well priced. We didn't have coffee with our coffee maker, we called, and it came right away. We looked at the pool area, and it was nice and cozy. Looked like a great place to relax. There is also a very nice courtyard where one could sit and read the paper. Overall....nice....I was expecting something more like The Monterey Plaza ( which is also a Woodside property)... But it seems much smaller and a bit more tired.

I enjoyed my stay here. Excellent value for the price. I would probably stay here again, but the room I got did seem a bit weather worn with older furniture and a carpet showing some wear and stains. The shower/tub was a bit slow to drain, but it wasn't a major problem. You do need a car if you stay here and the Lafayette shops and restaurants are just a few minutes away. I was very happy with the location. Service was very good and I appreciated the free morning coffee.

We've gone to the excellent Duck Club restaurant here many times but decided to take a mid-week local break without the hassle of going in to San Francisco and it the Lafayette Park Hotel & Spa was a great choice. The hotel is immaculate and their pool area is a little gem. The spa treatments were excellent and it made for an extremely relaxing afternoon before dinner at the Duck Club.

It's very close to highway 24 and the Lafayette BART station and definitely somewhere worth considering if you're looking for a couples or family get away in the Bay Area.

Room Tip: The hotel has several quiet courtyards to overlook as well as the pool area

I stay here often when I have business in San Franisco. I love that it's still close to everything. But quiet because its not in the city. The rooms are big. Most are stanard rooms. But i like the Jennifer Suite. The service is excellent. I always use the spa. And love the treatments. Chris is great for massages. Always a great stay! :)

Got a good deal (on paper) from Hotwire. It wasn't a good deal. View from room was of heating/cooling units. We kept hearing a noise in pipes off/on during our stay. The hotel itself looked nice. There was garage parking underneath the hotel. A small pool on premise.

Room Tip: Going through Hotwire was not advantageous for this hotel.

We love this place because it is really cozy, it is centrally located and it has a spa! You an have facials and all of the treatments that you want while you are here. They also have a great restaurant and bar that works well for meeting up with friends. We have attended a party here which hosted about 75 people - the room was spacious plus we were able to enjoy the patio. This is the best place to stay in Lamorida. You will not be disappointed.
