Impecable tastes and presentation. The wait staff does a great job, great wine list. As k for the chicken cooked in a bag. It's not on the menu.

This place will please the most discriminating palate. The food is beautifully prepared -- flavors come shining through -- leaving your mouth and tummy completely satisfied. From start to finish, cocktails to dessert, we could not have been happier with the experience. The duck, salmon and pork chop entres were delicious. The fig tart dessert the perfect end to the meal. Foodies will truly delight in the experience. Can't wait to come back.

What a wonderful dinner! The heirloom tomato salad with feta was full of flavor featuring 3 different types of heirloom tomatoes. I had the night's special, a pork chop surrounded by fig sauce. Tender, moist and cooked to perfection. My husband had the gnocchi, which could have been the lightest gnocchi that I've ever had...better than Italian restaurants in New York and Chicago. Dessert was a peach dish that was fabulous. Service top notched. Items were explained in full. A great atmosphere in a small, cottage like setting. Very nice patio, but it was a little chilly. Sitting by the open, screened window was the best of both worlds. You will not be disappointed here.

it's always a treat to come across an unusual approach to a usual foodie experience..
my son recommended artisan bistro - he'd heard good things about the place although he'd never been there.
i wanted a special place to celebrate a friend's birthday, so i thought i'd give it a go. i asked if the restaurant would do a tasting menu on a saturday night for two of us. chef john (a local boy from nearby danville who has trained at places like per se in new york) was most obliging, taking into account our wishes for more small helpings vs. fewer larger servings, and for nothing too spicy or fat.
his unusual approach was a tasting menu that offered mostly different dishes for each of us; only three courses were the same for both of us. that meant we got to eat 17 different dishes. and that also meant much more work for the kitchen.
we've eaten tasting menus all over the world, and artisan bistro ranks right up there with the best. flavors, arrangements - and more important, balance and amounts. at the end of the meal, we were full but not uncomfortably stuffed.
we got to take the printed menu with us, with a special "happy birthday" message written on the top for my friend. if you are thinking of a similar experience, make sure you check with the restaurant first to come to a mutually agreeable arrangement. we arrived at 5pm on a saturday and didn't leave until 8:30pm.
service was also excellent, with joe, our waiter, not only explaining each dish to us but always checking back to make sure everything was ok. definitely a five-star experience all around.

I am a frequent visitor to the San Francisco Bay Area, and have often eaten at Artisan Bistro in the East Bay town of Lafayette were I stay with friends. The is great value and I am always welcomed by the lovely staff. I took my wife to try Artisan during a holiday. It was simply superb. The food is exquisite. My wife chose the Lamb Duo with chanterelles, yellow corn & mixed squash, corn and truffle puree. It was simple yet inventive, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. We both thought it was the best main course dish we had ever tasted, including dishes from many two and three Michelin star restaurants. Our wonderful waiter was a cook himself. He was clearly proud of his work, and this translated to attentive, knowledgeable and friendly service that we couldn't fault.
