Enjoyed a weekend stay at the hotel. Had a wonderful time. We had great service from the staff, especially Martin at the front desk who was super helpful and a waiter named victor at the Mexican restaurant. Also had a great massage

We were evacuated from Calabasas along with hundreds of thousands of others in Agoura, Westlake, Bell Canyon and Malibu. With no availability of hotels immediately close to us (or even remotely near) we headed to what used to be our favorite hotel in the desert, the La Quinta Resort and Spa. We didn't find that the staff knew or even seemed to care about our plight. We begged for a reduced rate and a waived pet fee, which was finally granted...thank you. In turn the room assisgned to us was old and gross, like we got the bottom of the barrel for that reduced rate. Thankfully our delightful bell man took pity on us and made a few phone calls and we were upgraded to a slightly less old and gross room but at least it had an enclosed and gated courtyard patio for our little dog and was on the corner meaning it wasn't a dark cave. We still found the room to be old and tired as the previous but again because it was a corner location we had more windows and doors. All the wood trim on moldings and hearths are knicked up and the finish worn off in most places. Tiny little closet barely enough room for one let alone two. There was old around the tub and in the corner of the shower. You will find cheap counter accessories and old painted cabinetry. The towels at least were good and fluffy. Carpet covers the entire surface except for the bathroom, is old and worn looking, felt dirty, I kept flip flops on the enitre time, even on the paver floors in the bathroom. The one thing we loved was the bedding and comfort of the mattress, both seemed to be higher quality, more so than anything else in the room. Wireless service was poor. I was able to use it the first day but not at all after that. Outside the cushions to the patio furniture were dirty as was the coffee table surface so we couldn't sit there without getting pool towels. The plaster around the patio walls are chipped and deteriorating. There are numerous pools but they are not maintained and there is no pool service. Hardly any towels at the pool we sat at. On the flip side we found the food to be wonderful at the coffee shop and the Mexican restaurant, and very dog friendly. At the end of the day this charming hotel needs some love. I would definitely recommend staying in one of the newer built rooms near the spa and at the back of the property. They will be more expensive (and since we were staying more long term not knowing when we could return) we cheaped out. I wouldn't do that again.

Dear thesweeities:

I am sorry to learn of your disappointing experience and offer my unreserved apology for anything less than helpful, friendly service throughout your stay. There is no excuse for anything less. And please be assured that information about specific natural disasters is changing and updated every day. Covering 4000+ hotels worldwide, our agents are empowered to make such decisions, and I apologize that this instance required more than one call to show our appreciation for your loyalty and compassion for this terrible situation in California. Thank you for your candor, and I hope to welcome you back for a future experience that truly reflects the Waldorf standards.

I was expecting just a little bit more. The room was quaint and Spanish decor. Spacious and comfortable. The steak restaurant really could have been better with just a little more effort. The Caesar salad was wilted (could have easily been prepared fresh). The strip was just okay and Brussel sprouts undercooked. The steak tartar has a strange texture. And the "artisanal" cheeses were supermarket cheeses. Generally blah.

Dear dannyindc:

Thank you for being our guest and providing feedback on your recent experience with us. Although I am glad to hear you appreciated our quaint and well-appointed accommodations, I am disheartened to hear that we did not exceed your expectations at Morgan's. I certainly appreciate your candor and hope we have the opportunity to serve you in the future.

We planned a weekend for my daughter's birthday and had such an amazing stay. Everything was perfect. The concierge even gave my daughter a birthday amenity, great touch. Breakfast was great and we also had dinner at Morgan's. We couldn't be happier with our stay and hope to be back soon.
