Description: From the moment you approach the Cliffhouse you are surrounded by the dramatic sights and sounds of this desert destination. Jutting from a massive rock outcropping above the desert floor the Cliffhouse is renowned for its spectacular views across the valley and providing a lively, casual destination to enjoy a menu of American classics with innovative preparations focused on premium steaks and seafood at great prices. The historic ranch house ambiance complete with a massive fireplace, expansive windows and rustic beamed ceilings creates a warm welcoming environment from which to gaze at the magnificent mountains, share a meal and conversation and stay awhile. The menu highlights vibrant flavors from the valley along with a generous selection of fresh fish and seafood. The wine list has been thoughtfully chosen to complement the food and provide reasonably priced selections including rare and limited bottles.

Four of us came for happy hour and some snacks - the place was packed including outside dining on a Tuesday at 5pm! The service was extremely good from the valets, greeters, bus boys to the wait staff!! We all ended up seated at an outside table that showed off the restaurant's unique cliffhouse architecture (mountain side rock with waterfalls) - very nice! All four of us ordered something different to drink and eat. One dinner included (2) 7oz lobsters, another being a 16oz rib-eye steak, one being a huge lamb shank and the 4th that was something with grupper?? (forgot). The only reason that I do not rate this restaurant with a 5 star rating was simply having too large of food portions and too little flavor, wine pricing was a bit too high for what is being offered...other than that - it was surely an unexpected delight!

The setting is unique and memorable. Some of the dishes are really good, especially the stuffed artichoke! Other food was varied. The pasta was very good, but the seafood was very mediocre, in spite of the strong recommendations from the waiter. Having gone a few times now, I will try to search out better options next time.

My wife and I visit this restaurant when we are in La Quinta. The atmosphere is very nice. The food and drinks are good and the price is right. The bar area is very popular during happy hour. Get there early, 4 -5 PM for good seating. Ask if Jesse is working. If so, tell him the couple from Seattle wrote a review and recommended him for a waiter.

Go early! Patio & bar are full up by 4:30 pm . This is a classy and cosmopolitan experience. The raspberry lemon drop martini is awesome. So SMOOTH! Both food & drink are pricey but well worth it.
Actually ordered a burger which was fantastic. Service was good considering how busy it was. Upscale clientele, classy but charming atmosphere, beautiful views. Drive to La Quinta. You will enjoy the old time desert delite.
