“What a treat!”
Reviewed May 29, 2012

We had dinner here and it was fantastic - the food, the service, ambience, everything! We ordered a steak and the braised short rib and both were cooked to perfection and tasted just as fine. Wine list is very good - prices are high for the area but worth the visit.

“Nice for a catered dinner”
Reviewed May 25, 2012

Our dinner was catered by Morgan's ~ as it was a private dinner for a group of 23 persons. Very delicious and very good service. We chose the braised short ribs, which were outstanding. Dessert was an ice cream version of s'mores, very delicious!

“Very good food, exceptional setting.”
Reviewed May 19, 2012

There's indoor and outdoor seating in this old Spanish hacienda-style setting. The roaring fireplace on a cold evening and the efficient, knowledgeable service are some of the reasons why this place is quite a few cuts above the usual evening out. Our only caveat was that some of the cooking doesn't quite hit it off because the chef's TOO inventive. Beluga lentils with halibut? Each was delicious but together, overwhelmed the delicate fish. My scallops were cooked just right but rested on a gummy risotto curiously "seasoned" with sweat pea and celery root????
The desserts were good but rather simple to justify the price.
All in all, the food was pricey for what you get. Would we eat there again? No. There are too many other exceptional restaurants up the valley to try.

“Upscale dining, casual ambiance”
Reviewed May 11, 2012

My wife and I dined here on our last evening at the lovely La Quinta Resort and Club. The friendly manager informed us that the chef had just won his third James Beard award, and it showed in his use of layered flavors, ranging from bold to subtle. I started with fresh oysters in some sort of blood orange citrus compote that was unlike anything I've ever had, while my wife sampled the baby artichoke hearts, served lightly battered, along with green olives and almonds. Both dishes were heavenly. For main courses, she chose the scallops and I went with the porterhouse, medium rare, bleu cheese encrusted. Both were outstanding. When you go, save room for dessert, because it's made fresh on the premises, ice creams, pastries and all. The ambiance is early 20th-century, with live piano and guitar on the night we were there. People were dressed resort-casual, so everyone was comfortable. Highly recommend, and we WILL be back.

“Great bar!”
Reviewed May 6, 2012 via mobile

We are locals in the desert and we enjoy this place a lot, great ambiance. The bartender, Jason, is the best . He makes us feel welcome every time we go there, he knows exactly what drinks we like and don't even ask us anymore. So to be a big resort the bar feels as a local place is great. Even if you are not staying at this resort, please try this place is worth it.
