“Del Mar - Plenty of other places...”
Reviewed December 30, 2011

Sorry to report that 5 people came. 1 out of 5 was happy. 2 out of 5 were non plussed and 2 out of 5 thought it was horrible. One of them ate the chicken... Even the waiter was apologetic. Maybe a bad night. hope so.

“Excellent new restaurant in Del Mar, San diego”
Reviewed November 15, 2011

Rimel's is famous for it's chicken. They opened a new place called Rimels Bar & Grill Del Mar that is excellent. Probably the best chicken I have had here.

“Literal Hole in the Wall but not a Wallflower”
Reviewed August 2, 2011

Four of us ate at the La Jolla Rimel's Rotisserie last night. It was the fourth time we have been there, so we have tried a few different things. The actual "restaurant" is a literal hole in the wall, and very dark, but there are plenty of outside tables in this small, non-scenic strip mall. The portions are enormous, and the food is very fresh--not cheap, but good value for money. Two of us had (local) filet mignon, with excellent Caesar salads and potatoes ($24), one had grilled white shrimp with wok vegetables and a field green salad ($23), yum! I had a chicken breast and wing (small) with chipotle beans and jasmine rice ($10). We all had the green sauce, which is totally amazing. Both beer and wine are served--a small but decent choice--in my view both are (unlike the food) overpriced. In earlier years we went there for local lobster, but Rimel's no longer serves it. Many customers seemed to love the Mexican food, but the corn tortillas are too thick for my taste. Overall this is a not-to-be missed local gem for food, but without atmosphere--a hole in the wall but not a wallflower.

“Green Sauce”
Reviewed April 20, 2010

The best sauce ever! The green sauce is amazing. Don't even know what it is. It' s some kind of cilantro, lime, chili with cream. They say it has no cream and low cal, but it's just to good to be true.

“Highly Recommend this little gem”
Reviewed February 16, 2008

I've eaten here twice with my wife and we've had great food and service on both occasions.

The Gyozas are fantastic. I had the Rice Bowl with Mahi Mahi and it was obvious it was fresh - it came with a nice assortment of veggies as well.

I love this little restaurant.
