Enjoyed a tandem paragliding fight from Torrey Pines Glideport. It was $150 for 20 minutes.
Views were spectacular. You glide off the cliffs and soar over the coastline. Winds must be 10-15 mph for paragliding (which means they do not offer flights every day). They also offer hang-gliding, which utilizes a fixed wing structure as opposed to paragliding which uses a modified parachute. Hang gliding costs $200, and winds must be 15+ mph westward in order to fly.
Paragliding seemed relatively safe and straightforward, or at least the instructor made it feel that way. The wait is 30 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the volume. I flew in July, and even in mid-summer it was cold up in the air. All the instructors wore jackets and face masks. I recommend you wear a jacket. Also it's preferable to wear shoes rather than flip flops so you can run/ land as instructed. Some people flew with their cameras to take pictures.
The glideport has a cafe, restroom and gift shop. They sell photography and videos for extra. It's a good idea to call to see if they are able to fly prior to driving there and also inquiring how long the wait is. (858) 452-9858
